Where did I go wrong?

Hollyleaf thought almost angrily as she padded in silence, alone, through the dark, slightly damp tunnels.

If she had been better, or stronger, or smart could she have prevented all of this? But she didn't know. Besides, Lionblaze was always the strong one, and Jayfeather was the smart one. She was just… Hollyleaf.

They were part of 'The Three' while she was just the sister. On the outside looking in.

But maybe she could fix it. There was no point in crying over rotten fresh-kill. You just had to suck it up and go hunt again.

Perhaps that was why I'm helping them… She thought, remembering the cats' she was helping get out of the tunnels. Maybe that's why I told them my name…

Yes, she decided. The time for hiding is over. I can't be a coward anymore. It's time to suck it up and face the clan. Then they emerged, the sunlight nearly blinding the black she-cat.

"Here we are." She said, turning to face the she-cats. One had a fluffy gray pelt and blue eyes, and the other was silver and white, with piercing dark blue eyes. Hollyleaf took a moment to examine them both, having not been able to see clearly in the dark.

Then, a sudden fear clenched her belly. She couldn't do it. She couldn't go back to the clans.

"I… I have to go. Good-bye." She said quickly, then turned and padded back towards the tunnels.

"Wait! Come back with us, Hollyleaf! You're a hero! I'm sure the clan will welcome you back." The gray one said, her eyes bright with excitement. The other cat was nodding her agreement.

"I can't." Hollyleaf said, starting back towards the tunnels.

"But…" The one with dark blue eyes began.

"I said no!" Hollyleaf snapped, fighting to keep the desperation from her voice. The pair looked as if they wanted to argue, but before they could another voice beat them to it.

"HOLLYLEAF!" Hollyleaf froze as Lionblaze came bursting through the undergrowth, his amber eyes glowing with joy. "You're back!"

Hollyleaf remained frozen, unsure of how to reply. Lionblaze talked excitedly, and before she knew it she was being escorted back to camp.

Oh well, she thought as she followed her brother. At least now I can try to fix the damage I've done…

I know this isn't how this scene happened, but I didn't have the book with me when I wrote it, so don't complain.

Review if you liked it! Or if you hated it.
