"You said you would never leave me!"

Well, you said you would never HURT ME.

If you meant your promise

then you'd have let me go without death or pain

when I gave you the chance.

Instead of coming with your damned silver and china

like it would be a show to watch your soldiers

whip the American colonies back into obedience.

I remember stepping over that broken china

and laughing at you

because until then you'd never really been STUPID.

But maybe you were just blind.

After all,

you never even noticed me grow up.

How could I expect you to realize

you were fighting an adult now?

I'm taller than you now, England.

Did you fail to notice that too?

It makes it so much easier

To aim for your smug face.

You don't look so smug

anymore.

Maybe you're finally starting to see

just what's going on here.

This isn't a rebellion.

This is

a REVOLUTION,

and I have too much to lose

to let you make me your obedient little brother again.

So brace yourself, England

because freedom tolls

at a painful pitch.

AN: In US history we learned that when the British soldiers were dispatched to America many of them brought the comforts of home with them, including silver plates and china. In one of the earliest battles of the American Revolution, some of British who were not fighting settled down on a hill top to drink tea and watch the spectacle, as if they were going to see a stage comedy.
