Eugene smiled and twirled his wife's short brown hair in his fingers. The princess sitting in his lap twiddled with the flower in her hand and took a deep breath.
"Eugene?" she asked quietly. The prince looked down at those emerald-green eyes.
"Hmm?"
"When did you know you'd fallen in love with me?" Rapunzel asked. Eugene took a deep breath and looked up.
"Oh, let's see…it was when we were in the boat, watching the lights. There was one lantern that almost hit the boat, but you reached for it and guided it back up. The look on your face…I've never seen one like it. It was so full of wonder and enchantment. And that moment, it was absolutely clear that you were the only girl I'd ever fall in love with." he said with a loving smile. Rapunzel giggled softly.
"How clear was it?" she remarked, smiling.
"Crystal clear. In that moment, I knew that I was right where I was meant to be. And I would never change that. Ever." Eugene leaned down and kissed his beloved's forehead, then continued playing with her hair.
