(that's pretty much the whole village)
Ch, 1. Prologue (the legend)
Once upon a time, in a faraway land, where personified countries and humans lived together in harmony (most of the time anyway and at this point there was peace); there lived a young country. He lived in a beautiful castle and got whatever he wanted. No one really ever told him no.
So he was greedy, vain, selfish, and spoiled rotten.
But, one December night, an old beggar woman came to the castle. She offered him a single rose in return for shelter from the bitter cold. Disgusted by her unpleasant appearance; he turned her away. But, she warned him, "don't be deceived by appearances. For beauty is found within." And when he turned her away again, the old woman's ugliness melted away to reveal a beautiful young woman.
He tried to apologize, but it was too late. For she had seen that there was no love in his heart. And, as punishment, she transformed him into a hideous beast and placed a powerful spell on the castle, and all who lived there.
Ashamed of his monstrous form, the beast concealed himself inside his castle. Only a magic mirror was his window to the outside world. The rose, the one that the woman gave him, was truly an enchanted rose. Which would bloom until his 22 year. If he could learn to love another, and earn her love in return by the time the last petal fell; then the spell would be broken. If not, he would be doomed to remain a beast for all time.
As the years past, he fell into despair and lost all hope because…
