Beautiful

Roger sat with his legs crossed staring out into the sky. The sun was setting and the buildings dark.
"Mr. Roger!" He whipped his head around at Norman's exasperated voice. "Dinner is served." Dorothy watched the exchange. If she could understand what worry was it would be what she felt. Roger seemed to be lost it thought all the time now; almost as if he were slipping away.
Here
I go again
Slipping further away
Letting go again
Of what
keeps me in place
I like it here
But it scares me to
death
There is nothing here
(humming)
Dorothy was out in the garden at midnight picking roses because she didn't need to sleep, when she heard Roger's balcony doors open. She stood and saw him staring with his eyes closed. She shrugged and kneeled again to work.
But Dorothy was mistaken, his eyes were only half closed. Dorothy kneeling amongst roses that looked black in the night, her dark hair a false black as well, with only her skin glowingly pale in the silvery moonlight. He sighed, realizing just how beautiful she was.
The light
is beautiful
But I'm darker than light
And you are
wonderful
But this moment is mine
All of this dust
All of
this past
All of this over and gone
And never coming back
All
of this forgotten
Not by me
Roger sat in bed wondering why her was the only one that forgot Dorothy wasn't human. Sometimes she just seemed so real. His head that had been bowed suddenly raised to show determined eyes. She tore the sheets aside and jumped out of bed at a run.
I find comfort
here
Cos I know what is lost
Hope is always fear
For the
pain it may cost
And I have searched for the reason to go on
I've
tried and I've tried
But it's taking me so long
I might be
better off
Closing my eyes
And God will come looking for me
In
time
Something made Dorothy rise and turn. The wind caught her hair and black skirt, tugging the rose out of her absently yielding hand. She was peculiarly unsurprised as Roger ran out of the building at a dead run. He caught her in his arms, swinging her clear off her feet.
All of
this dust
All of this past
All of this over and gone
And
never coming back
All of this forgotten
Not by me
Roger stared into the eternal night of her eyes and slowly leaned down and kissed her. Dorothy put her arms around is neck, and instinct, if androids have instinct, took over.
Norman nodded, standing in the darkness of his balcony watching. As he was about to shut the balcony doors behind him, as he left the scene, he said with approval: "it's about time, Mr. Roger, Miss. Dorothy. Or should I say Mr. and Mrs. Roger Smith? Nothing can separate them now."
All of
this dust
All of this past
All of this over and gone
And
never coming back
All of this forgotten
Not by me
I can see
myself
I look peaceful and pale
But underneath
I can barely
inhale
I can hear myself singing that song
Over and over until
it belongs to me
(humming)
As they leaned away from eachother Dorothy spoke.
"Roger?" She whispered.
"Yes?" he asked, his arms holding her above the ground.
"I think I love you, Roger Smith." Roger smiled at her straightforward words.
"I think I love you too, R Dorothy Wayneright."
