Trigger Warning: Character Death.
It was a heart attack. That was what the doctors had told her as her father figure was laying in the ICU room. It is most likely that he will never recover, the other thing they had told her. She was asked to make a choice, hoped that he will somehow recover or end his suffering. Shiho Miyano cried; she was losing her family only once again. After the tears had stopped, she held her pride and called him.
"It's Agasa," she shakily whispered to the phone. "He is in the ICU… I need you, Kudo."
He dropped the case and ran for her. Their fight, that lasted for 3 months already forgotten. He just knew that Agasa needed him. She needs him.
She was sitting by herself when he found her, the tears that had run dry but are once again fresh when she saw him. He wrapped his arms around her, she buried her face to his chest and sobbed. "I can't lose him. He is my only family. I don't want to be all alone." She clung onto him as if he was her only lifeline and she cried her heart out.
Once she calmed down, he asked her what she wants to do. She replied that she can't make that decision, repeating that she doesn't want to be all alone again.
Shinichi Kudo held Shiho Miyano tightly and looked at the lifeless body of his neighbor, good friend, and a father figure. He knew what needs to be done. They both knew what's going to happen. He tried to be strong for her, he shed a single tear as he softly whispered to her ear. "We need to say goodbye."
Shiho held the professor's hand and softly talked to him."I don't want you to go. After my sister died, you're the one who took me in and gave me a home, a family. If it weren't for you I would have died that night. I really don't want you to go. But I don't want you to be in pain anymore." She squeezed his hand, "Dad, I love you. Please don't be in pain anymore. I love you so much." It might have been her imagination, but she felt him squeezed her hand back as if to say: I love you too, my daughter.
They turned off the machine that gave the professor life. Shinichi silently sent his thoughts to the man whom he loved like his father. "I'll take good care of her Agasa. I promise that she will never be alone."
