Prologue

Caspian had Kaina over, they were going to have a movie, video game and junk food night. It had only been a few hours before they were defeating Heartless on multiplayer mode in Kingdom Hearts. Furrowing her eyebrows, Caspian noticed that the screen on her DS was acting a bit funny. Shrugging off the strangeness, she resumed playing with Kaina. She played as Axel, her all time, favorite character in Kingdom Hearts. Kaina was Roxas, of course, she usually wasn't anyone else.

The girls reached their hands in and out of a bag of Ruffles that was between them. Once the bag was nearly empty, Caspian grabbed ahold of a plastic bag from the corner store and pulled out another bag of chips. She then opened it and ate a few before returning to the mission that she and Kaina had been trying to complete.

Again, Caspian's screen fuzzed, blurred and then went back to normalcy. "…My DS must be taking a shit on me." Caspian muttered. The screen began to turn blue and red, and ended up entirely blurry.

"Is either of your screens acting weird?" Caspian asked Kaina who had been laying with her head hanging off of the bed. Kaina stared perplexed at her screen, for it had gone completely blank. "I think my DS just died." She said grumpily.

Even though Kaina thought her DS was dead, the green power light was still on, it wasn't even red. Kaina turned the DS, inspecting the light and the blank screen, something wasn't right with them. "That's weird." Kaina said irritably and repeatedly pressed the 'A' button. She pressed the button continuously until the pad of her fingertip had turned dark pink.

"Aw seriously!?" Kaina shouted. "Come on! I was totally winning too!" Caspian stayed quiet and watched her friend struggle with the handheld game. Squinting her eyes, Caspian stared down at the DS until it suddenly went black, then a bright white. The white blinded her and she set down the game, thinking that maybe the DS's just needed to rest and charge for a while.

The girls were utterly surprised that the games just began to act strange it could be that they had been playing all day, but both portables can't possibly act up the same way, at the same time like this. Suddenly, a painful pang hit Caspian on the inside of her head. "Ow…headache." She muttered. "Drink some water." Kaina suggested.

Caspian got to her feet from the moon chair and went over to the cup of water that stood on top of her shelf. Reaching up, she grabbed the cup, but instantly froze in her spot. The chilled, sweating glass slipped from Caspian's hand and fell to the wooden floor, shattering into a million pieces. She turned in the spot and tried to walk, but lost her balance, Kaina watching from the opposite side of the room. Caspian found herself laying on her bedroom floor and immediately went unconscious.

Kaina sprung from her spot on the bed as her friend fell onto the floor. "C-Caspian!" She exclaimed. As she slid off of the bed, she tried getting over to Caspian, but the color in her vision blended. The colors mixed to create a bright magenta and it's the last thing she could see before she too had fallen onto the floor. Everything only seemed to fade and before she knew it, Kaina was out.
