Like a Snail

She sits there, waiting, wondering, hoping.
Doing just a little more than nothing, but a little less than something.
And she waits, and waits, and waits as a tree.
Because for her, time never went her way.
Time was always ticking by - v e r y - s l o w l y - , as if mocking her.
When everyone else complained that their summer went fastlikethis, she laughed to herself, wondering if they were true.
Time was irrelevant, she knew that.
But, even as an immortal Hunter, time had never been on her side.
Thalia Grace has never been more vexed by something inanimate and completely unreal in her life.
