A/N: This is my first attempt at a proper fanfic. Sorry if the dialogue from the show isn't correct. It's been a while since I watched 'Grace Period'
"Please tell me it's not Ziva." Agent Cassidy said as Tony faced the wall. He remained silent, thinking about the question. Yes, he was in love with Ziva.
"It is."
"What?!" Paula looked disgusted with him, Ziva was a bitch in her opinion. "How?"
"I don't know. She's beautiful, funny, intelligent. Everything a guy could want." He explained looking at the ground. "Don't tell her I told you."
"You really love her?" Paula asked, just for verification
"I do."
"Tony look at me." he turned to face her "I know it's a cliche but it's true. Life's too short to not tell someone you love them."
Tony hugged the wall he knew Paula's body was behind, she'd sacrificed herself, so that Gibbs, McGee, Ziva and himself could live. But could he live with himself now? That night was distressful. He ruined his undercover operation by breaking up with Jeanne. Director Shepard would hate him, today was probably his last day at NCIS. But maybe she'd be understanding, she'd been in love at one point aswell? With Gibbs, and then given up her happiness to be Director of a Federal Agency.
He knocked on the door of the one place he knew he'd be able to be himself and not be judged
"Tony?" Ziva asked "What are you doing here?" he had tears in his eyes. He embraced her, resting his head on her shoulder.
"I love you Ziva." Ziva stood there shocked, not knowing what to say. She thought that maybe it was his state of emotional distress.
"I love you too Tony." he lifted his head up and looked at her. He ran his hand along her cheek. Paula was right, if you love someone you have to tell them today.
Because they may not be there tomorrow...
