This one shot was totally inspired by the song "Soledad" by Westlife... and thus came the name.
Enjoy!
Even with all the staff and people on the Normandy, the ship seemed so empty… so dead. It held so many memories of her and Thane. She could recall all those times they wandered those corridors, All of the times they spent together here…
Tears started forming in her eyes and threatened to fall from them. She tried her best to block them away as she paced to her cabin. Breaking in front of anyone wasn't a good idea.
The elevator ride took forever. When she finally reached the room, she collapsed on her bed, tears raining from her eyes. Her heart was torn into million pieces; she was overwhelmed in pain and agony
"Siha, Don't cry…"
She heard his voice, so gentle and compassionate. Oh Gosh how she missed it! She felt his sweet touch as he held her hand in his.
"Thane!" She exclaimed as she lifted her head up, looking at him with her teary eyes. But he wasn't there… it was just an illusion.
She cried his name again with a trembling voice. He was gone. He'll never comeback. But she could still see him in every corner of the room; on her couch, next to the fish tank, on her desk, on the bed… She closed her eyes pushing the thoughts of him away. But Thane's black eyes were gazing at her steadily with his lips curled up in a beautiful smile. The image was so calming…
but all of that shifted suddenly to his injured form on the hospital bed. His face pale and battered, his body wrapped in a bandage while he emitted his last breath.
"Nooo" She bounced off the bed in terror, then rested her face in her hands, a sob escaping her throat.
It was impossible, there's no way Thane's gone! How would she be able to live without him? The thought was so unbearable and she just couldn't comprehend it.
Thane wouldn't want to see you crying, you idiot! She told herself as she fought tears hard. She needed to be strong. She HAD to be strong for the sake of everyone. She stood up with some difficulty then walked tremulously to the bathroom.
"You are Commander Shepard…" She looked at herself in the mirror, enumerating her accomplishments, "First human Spectre and Savior of the Galaxy. You've beaten the odds and conquered death! So pick yourself up!"
Her voice was so flat but she ignored it as she washed her face, and pulled her messy hair into a ponytail. She stared at herself again, then collapsed on the floor, weeping loudly. She'd always curbed her feelings, and acted like nothing mattered. But now, she just wanted to cry…
"Why? Why did you go?" She cried out as she recalled him saying that his time had come, but she shook her head, refusing that idea.
"I don't care about your time! You shouldn't leave me like that! You were everything to me!"
It was so unfair! Thane was the sun that lightened her universe. Her life was so dark, hollow and meaningless without him in it. Why did he have to go? It was still too soon! She needed him just one more time. She would sell her soul just to get to see him one last time, but she knew that wasn't going to happen.
She curled into a ball as she wept again until she passed out on the bathroom floor. A part of her hoping this nightmare would end once she was awake again.
