Weiss couldn't help the fact that she had cold hands. It didn't matter how warm it was outside, her hands were always cold as ice. Weiss had tried everything to warm them up: running her hands under hot water, sticking them in her pockets while wearing gloves, holding a warm beverage. Nothing seemed to help, and Weiss was reminded of this every time she went to shake someone's hand.
The latest reminder came from Ruby; she had given Weiss a high five after their most recent victory in the Vytal Festival. The touch had been so brief, that Weiss had hoped her teammate wouldn't notice. But when their hands clapped together for that short second, Weiss saw Ruby's eyes go wide.
"Weiss, your hands are so cold!"
Weiss sighed. "I know, Ruby. My hands are always cold."
"She's probably just anemic," Blake said as she grabbed onto Weiss' hand. "They can't be that OHH my GOD WEISS YOUR HANDS ARE FREEZING!"
"I would never have noticed," Weiss replied, sarcasm dripping from her voice.
Yang strode over and grabbed both of Weiss' hands, placing them on her warm face. She gave a sigh of contentment.
"I always get really warm after a fight," she said. "This feels good."
Weiss felt her face begin to burn. Yang was holding her hands so gently against her face, and the look of contentment on the yellow-haired girl's face made her look like a cat. Weiss looked away.
"I'm sure everyone is tired. Let's get back to our dorm and get some rest," she said. Blake nodded in agreement, and Ruby pounced on her sister, forcing Yang to release Weiss. Weiss let out a tiny sigh of relief as they began the trek back to the school.
It was late in the night when Weiss heard the creak of someone getting out of bed. She paid it no mind and assumed that Ruby was probably getting up to get a drink.
Weiss jumped a little when a weight entered her space, and a warm body lay down next her. Weiss rolled over, and in the darkness she found violet eyes staring at hers.
"Yang?"
"Wassup, princess," Yang said softly. "Are your hands still cold?"
Weiss scoffed. "Of course they are! When are they not?"
"I can fix that, if you'll let me?"
Weiss' heart pounded hard in her chest, and her face flushed red. She was grateful for the cover of darkness, or else Yang would see Weiss turn from ice princess into a lobster.
Weiss inched closer to Yang. "Okay," she whispered.
Yang picked up Weiss' hands and held them in her own for a minute, before placing them right over her heart. Unlike Weiss' own heartbeat, Yang's was slow and steady. The beat pulsed right underneath Weiss' fingertips, and for a moment Weiss thought her own heart would burst from her chest.
Yang pulled the smaller girl closer until they were nested together, and Weiss rested her head into the blonde's shoulder. Yang's heartbeat was soothing, and Weiss fell asleep to the even pace underneath her now warm hands.
