A long time ago, a man who once believed in an equal world, was born into this world. The people thought of him as a saint, believing his every word of equality and a new life for each of his subjects. He told stories of the future, with life and love combined.

Many believed these stories that were soon to be true, while others thought lowly of him, thought of him as a crazy man with a mind far to far off into space. The landwellers and seadwellers argued of these beliefs, fights breaking out in every part of the country. Soon after the fights, a federation began called, "The 80 Beliefs", ran the pirate Mindfang. The 80 Beliefs was only a federation of pirates, fighting for beliefs the saint that were said to be true. The pirates fought against the seadwellers with more brute force than anyone could ever believe. The high ruler of the sea, Condencence, saw this as a potential threat to her thrown and blamed the saint. The Saint meant for none of this to come about his beliefs. After years of warfare, the Queen finally announced the death sentence for The Saint, who was now called The Sufferer. The Sufferer had died before millions, his sentence included six arrows to the face, and nine to the chest. The death was only the start. The Vantas family were hunted down by the 80 Beliefs, that switched sides to the Condences kingdom. With this, a world war broke out.

Mana went out of balance within this world. Deserts and the arctics switched their original environments. Monsters consumed all the towns till there was nothing left, leaving villagers homeless to rebuild the towns.

Mrs. Lovesta Vantas and her two children escaped the home that protected them from any type if all dangers. The 80 beliefs's pirates were right on their tail, laughing mancanically as they jumped from roof to roof. Kankri Vantas grabbed his little brothers hand and his mothers to move them faster. Karkat's fulfilling anger was replaced with fear at the fact that they might be killed.

When they reached the center of town, they stopped at the entrance to find the daughter of Mindfang laughed wickedly. She lifted her sword toward the mother. Pirates ran toward the mother, grabbing her by the arm and tossing the brothers aside. Karkat pushed incoming guard as he jumped to rescue his mother.

"Kankri! Grab Karkat and go!" The mother yelled, the sword at her throat.

Kankri said nothing as he grabbed his angry brother and ran from the pirates. Karkat tried wiggling free from Kankri's grasp, only to have him tighten his grip. Karkat finally gave up when the entire city was engulfed in flames.

Everything was falling out of balance. And Karkat knew it had to be him to set things right, just as his father, The Sufferer, had envisioned.
