To another day
Another year, another birthday. Birthday's these days meant very little to Draco; he preferred to just let them pass by and hope that no one remembered them. It wasn't that he didn't want to think about getting older, it was more to do with the fact that he didn't believe that anything to do with him was worth celebrating after all the hurt and pain he had caused and almost caused. He hadn't celebrated a birthday since The Battle of Hogwarts, which was almost a decade ago.
He entered a dingy, little known pub in the centre of London after a particularly tedious day at work, and ordered a whiskey on the rocks, before taking a seat in the deepest, darkest region of the pub. As far as Draco was concerned this was exactly where he belonged.
As Draco took in his surroundings he recalled something that an old acquaintance said to him once – "There's a good climate in heaven, but even better company in hell." He looked at all the people in the pub and realised how true that was for everyone here but him.
"To another day," he muttered to himself as he toasted to no one in particular, before he drained his drink and got up to order another whiskey.
