Timeline: Takes place after Enemy at the Gate

*This is my first ever attempt at writing fan fiction.*

The Break-up

The gang is standing on the balcony looking at one amazing site,The Golden Gate bridge. Atlantis is home back on earth. Jennifer is standing there with Rodney, his arm around her shoulder. She looks to her left and sees Ronon with his arm around another girl. Jennifer feels a twinge of jealousy. She thinks to herself "Why am jealous? I have Rodney, I chose him. Did I make the wrong choice?" She looks up at Rodney and gives him a tentative smile.

A month goes by and her feelings for Ronon get worse. It doesn't help that she seems to have to patch him up quite a bit.

One day, Jennifer enters the cafeteria and sees Ronon eating with one of the female Marines. She feels that twinge of jealousy again. The next day she asks around and finds out that Ronon's relationship with the Marine is just casual, they have had only 2 meals together. Jennifer decides then and there it is time to do something.

The next day in Rodney's lab..

(Jennifer walks in..)

Rodney: "Oh hi, just give me a minute to finish this simulation and we can get lunch."

Jennifer:"Rodney, we need to talk."

Rodney:"Uh oh, that's never good."

(Rodney stops what he is doing and turns to Jennifer)

Jennifer:"You're a great guy Rodeny, it's just..."

(Rodney cuts her off)

Rodney:"I'm a great guy? Really?"

Jennifer:" No, seriously Rodney, you are. It's just I have been denying my feelings for someone else for quite some time now. Actually, I think I chose you over this other person because I saw you as the safer choice. I knew you were horrible with relationships so I figured it wouldn't get too serious."

(sarcasm)

Rodney:"Oh gee thanks."

Jennifer:"Don't act like that."

Rodney:"My girlfriend comes to break up with me. Tells me she has feelings for someone else, who she's had feelings for the entire time we were together; but it's all good because I am a great guy! How am I supposed to act? "

Jennifer:"How about taking the news with grace and be happy that I am following my heart."

(grumbles)

Rodney:"Yeah, whatever"

Jennifer:"We still have to work together Rodney. Can you be professional?"

Rodney:"Me? I am Mr. Professional!"

(not entirely believing Rodney)

Jennifer:"Okay, well, see you around."

(Jennifer turns to walk out of the lab)

Rodney:"Wait, can I ask you who's the lucky guy?"

(Jennifer turns back to Rodney)

Jennifer:"I'd rather not say until I talk to him."

Rodney:"Mmmm, okay."

A few minutes later..

(Jennifer knocks on a door. The door opens and Ronon is standing there)

Jennifer:"I broke up with Rodney."

Ronon:"You did?"

Jennifer nodds.

Ronon:"About time."

Ronon grabs Jennifer, kisses her, pulls her into his room and closes the door behind them.
