The Cat in the Computer Room

It was only the two of them, and the computer.

And then one day he was gone. No more petting, gentle hands in his fur. No more fresh milk in the square dish that was made for him. No more scornful looks at the cat flap because who needed to go outside when the world was in that room - but now he did. For food, for water, for milk - and he got all of those from the bowels laid outside an apartment building a few blocks down for the many stray cats of which he wasn't one, not yet, not ever.

And he waited. Perhaps his master was sick. Or had to go somewhere. He left his precious computer behind as well. Both Miko and the computer. He'd never abandon them both. And so Miko looked after the computer, and himself, and waited. And waited.

And then the room was sealed, like a coffin, and he couldn't leave. No more food. No more milk. No more water. Not even any sunlight seeping through the windows. Like there was a poison in the room and it would swallow him.

There was something. And it swallowed him.
