I had gotten some inspiration for this story, and didn't want to lose it. So, I'm at least gonna post this little prologue for you guys before I move on to the full story. Also, I posted a poll specifically for this story, so go and vote on that when you get a chance.
*I don't own The Lion Guard or Chaotic!*
Prologue
Wandering through his home town known simply as the Pridelands, on account of their town hero being a lion, a teenage boy was seen with his head down and his hands in his pockets. This is Kion, the son of Simba and Nala, and brother to Kiara.
Kion has tan skin, sunset red hair that's slicked back and looks almost windblown, and dark gold eyes. His choice of attire is a dark yellow shirt under a black unzipped sweatshirt, a pair of blue jeans with the pant legs tucked into a pair of red combat boots, and a pair of black fingerless gloves. And right now, Kion is in a very serious state of depression due to one person.
Kovu, the son of a woman named Zira.
Ever since he moved back into the Pridelands, Kion's friends and sister just up and abandoned him for Kovu, because he's SO COOL. That last bit was sarcasm, so's you know. Even his own mom and dad seem to favor Kovu more than they do him. It just saddens him how he's been abandoned like this.
And to think, he was chosen to be the leader of the Lion Guard.
He had planned on recruiting his friends to be the other members of the Lion Guard, but it doesn't seem like they'd be interested if Kovu's not leading. Now, Kion needs to find a new Bravest, Fastest, Strongest and Keenest of Sight. And that's not gonna be an easy task.
"Dad said that I'd have an important role in life, and I believed him. But now, maybe I'm not even important to him. I just don't understand." Kion said to himself.
Sad music began to play through the air as Kion sat down on a rocky ledge near the border of the Pridelands. Kion knew he had to get his feelings out, and this seemed like the only way to do so.
Kion: "Why? Why even trust me at all?"
"They say the guard is my call."
"But then come tell me I'm wrong."
"Now what? What should I do?"
"And who. Who do I turn to?"
"Now everything feels so upside down."
"Deep down, maybe I knew."
"It was way too good to be true."
"Now all my friends, they look down on me."
"Some leader I turned out to be!"
But as he sang, Kion failed to notice the clouds parting behind him and the face of a great golden lion with a red mane smiling down on him. Not until the lion spoke in a powerful voice.
"Kion."
Kion turned around and looked, clearly shocked to see the transformed soul of the one man who this could possibly be.
"Avi kabisa…! Are you?"
"Yes, Kion. I am your grandfather."
"Mufasa…! I've heard a lot about you." Kion said.
"And I've been watching you. You are about to embark on a great journey, Kion, leader of the Lion Guard."
Kion looked downcast as he thought about this. Was he even worthy enough to be leader of the Lion Guard? Knowing his dad… no… Simba… he'd strip Kion of that power and give it to Kovu in a heartbeat if given the chance.
"I'm not sure Simba's gonna let me lead the Lion Guard. He seems to favor Kovu more." he said.
"Yes, I have seen how Simba has been acting recently. And it disappoints me to see that he cannot understand that you are ready. Kovu does not possess the will power to lead the guard, as it will not always be easy."
"Then, maybe Simba's right. Maybe I'm not ready to lead. OR use the roar." Kion relented. "I'm not even sure I can control it. First it's super loud, then it's just a squeak! And I… I don't want to end up like Scar!"
Mufasa gave his grandson a reassuring smile. That answer showed him that Kion is more than ready to lead the Lion Guard, and will be an even better man one day.
"Don't be afraid, Kion. Trust your instincts. The roar will be there for you when you need it. And so will I. Until the Pridelands end…"
"Grandfather Mufasa, don't go yet!" Kion begged.
But it was too late. Mufasa had already returned to the heavens where all of the Great Kings of the Past reside. But Kion seemed to understand what his grandfather meant. And as the music resumed, this time, it was far more upbeat and dramatic. Like a hero finally being born in the people's time of need.
"Trust my instincts. The roar will be there when I need it."
As Kion returned to the song from his heart, he was now in a much better mood than before. But at the same time, he knew that he had to leave the Pridelands if he was going to make any real progress in life.
Kion: "Maybe my journey is far from done."
"They need a leader, and I'm the one."
"So now it's time for them all to see…"
"The man that I was born to be!"
"It is time to take the lead on my own."
"It is time for something bigger than I've ever known."
"No need to wonder, the choice is done."
"Now I believe I truly am the one."
Kion was surprised to hear the sound of a roaring lion as his jacket sleeves tore off on their own. Looking to his shoulder area, he saw the mark of the Lion Guard. The mark resembled a male lion roaring at his prey.
Kion: "So is it time?"
"Is it time?
"Yes…"
"It… is… time!"
And so, Kion walked off into the distance, leaving his home and everyone he's ever known behind. But that's okay. Because he won't be alone in this endeavor. For there is a certain card game that will help him find those that will heal his hurting heart.
*To Be Continued…*
Remember to vote on the poll for which of the four tribes Kion should ally himself with, and I'll see you all in whatever it is I decide to update next. Thank you all, and see ya later! Bye!
