Aya: I got tired of the wacky story, so here this is. Keep in mind, its past midnight while I write this, so I'm sleepy…yawn and I STILL don't know who "Sai" is…

He had watched the beautiful man from afar. Getting as close to Konoha as he dared. He was a rouge ninja after all, and, however powerful, didn't like the odds. Besides, Orochimaru was staking the place out himself. Zabuza had confidence in his own abilities, but he sure as hell wasn't suicidal. Not that he would mind, if he got to be with the cute school teacher.

At the moment, his beloved little teacher was lecturing his students. He had been slightly late, and they took the opportunity to play with the practice weapons. When Iruka caught sight of the room, He 1) blinked, 2) made them clean up and fix everything to the best of their abilities, and 3) lectured them for an hour. Then he continued the class lesson as if it didn't happen. This scene surprised Zabuza; he didn't think the man had it in him. Iruka normally seemed so… serene and quiet.

A bit later, Iruka dismissed everyone for lunch. As Zabuza sat in 'his' tree (he called it his because he was possessive by nature,) he remembered that day long ago when they almost met.

It was shortly after the battle on the bridge and Haku suggested that they follow the team. They tailed them to a café where the team met up with Iruka, to give him the mission reports. The hokage needed the reports by tomorrow morning, and the team was planning to rest the night to recuperate from their injuries. Haku got bored and decided to go play with his rabbit… which he still hadn't named. He was very protective of said bunny, so when Zabuza nearly cooked the thing once, Haku threw a fit. Haku used to be super obedient, but he was entering the difficult and moody teenager years.

Zabuza couldn't bring himself to leave without knowing the man's name. For some reason, Iruka captivated Zabuza. There was just something about him. When Iruka started to leave, Naruto yelled his name out and chased after him. "Hey, Iruka-sensei, I'm coming with you! I'm not tired one bit!" Naruto shouted, punching the air for effect. Said sensei sighed and nodded, smiling. That smile was the most beautiful thing Zabuza had ever seen. It seemed to wash away his bad past, and give him hope. As soon as he felt this, he didn't even try to deny it. He was in love. Then Iruka left and let behind a lonely Zabuza.

Zabuza was watching how gracefully and politely Iruka ate. He looked so peaceful; Zabuza would have loved to join him, sitting by the memorial stone. Zabuza noticed that Iruka had brought flowers to the monument 'I wonder if he's lost a loved one here? Poor man… Seems to continually have bad luck today.' Zabuza thought. A bell rang signaling the end of lunch. Iruka walked quietly back to his class.

(Iruka's POV)

'Man, this day is always rough on me… God, I miss my family. Oh… I'd better go get Naruto a birthday present. His birthday is today too, isn't it?' I thought dejectedly. 'Good idea. Wouldn't want Naruto to think I'd forgotten, right?' All day I felt like someone was watching me. I looked but never saw anyone. Hmm… oh well. Nothing I can do about it.
