A/N: So this is a super angsty oneshot that I came up with after seeing a super depressing gifset on Tumblr. The title is because Tonks says 'he'll sleep til dawn and snore like his father' and yeah please don't kill me

While only a few months old, Teddy Lupin was completely incapable of speech. He gurgled, yes, and cried and screamed just like any other baby. But instead of talking, he thought.

It was nighttime, or at least he assumed so. It was dark all around and the nice one (not his mummy or his daddy but still nice) had turned the lights out earlier. A strange, ominous cloud hung over the house. When the nice one (her name started with an A) came in to play with him, her forehead was creased with worry and she was much too preoccupied to be any fun.

So Teddy thought and thought. He gurgled a bit and dozed a bit, but mainly he thought. He thought about everything; the creases in the nice lady's forehead, how soft his blanket was, where his mummy and daddy were (for they had been gone for quite a long time). He eventually came to a conclusion, though he did not like it at all.

His mummy and daddy were gone and they would not come back. Maybe that, Teddy mused, was the cause for the nice lady's forehead creases. Maybe she was...what was the word for it...sad. He did not like the idea that his mummy and daddy were gone, especially because his mummy had such nice hair. It was usually purple, but sometimes brown or pink. Teddy liked it. It was very fun to play with, and when she moved fast it got all blurry.

Teddy's daddy was more serious, but he smiled a lot. He laughed when Teddy played with his mummy's hair, but then his face settled back into a frown. His forehead was always creased like the nice lady's. He didn't look like her, though. Teddy thought that his mummy looked like the nice lady, and that maybe they were related.

Then Teddy gurgled a bit more and he thought about crying. He quickly vetoed this, however, as crying was loud and took a lot of effort and he also did not want to bother the nice lady. Slowly, slowly, slowly, Teddy's eyes grew heavy.

He spared his parents a few moments of sadness and blinked a few times. Lightning flashed outside his bedroom window and he turned away from it, snuffling softly.

After a few minutes, Teddy Lupin fell asleep. When Andromeda Tonks walked into his bedroom the next morning, tears streaming down her wan cheeks, she noticed that his hair was a blinding shade of purple.
