A/N This is my first ever crossover fic (in fact, my first fic that isn't just SP) to celebrate my fanficversairy! One year since I came on here :) I might be a really bad updater- sorry in advance...
This is based on an AU where it wasn't Hera who took Percy. The whole Gaia plot doesn't exist (Unless I change my mind later) and in SP terms, it's after Death-Bringer (No LSODM spoilers, I promise). I'm dedicating the story to September Silver, because a) she is AWESOME and b) she remembered my fanficversairy and wrote me a Ghanith drabble :D
Annabeth cursed Percy's name as she ran through the streets, blindly skidding round street corners slick with rain. Shouts and horns filled the city air, the way they always did in New York. Even now, way past midnight, shop windows, car headlights and streetlights illuminated the city that never slept as clear as sunlight.
But Annabeth could hardly hear the noise. She sprinted along the pavements as fast as she could, not seeing the shops and cars and ordinary people living out their ordinary only thing she saw was Percy.
In her mind, his green eyes glinted at her as she kissed him goodnight. The camp had been winding down, everyone preparing for night.
Annabeth's brain was buzzing with a happiness and excitement that, a year ago, she wouldn't have thought possible. But looking at Percy's rumpled, messy dark hair and his laughing sea-green eyes, Annabeth had everything she could ever need.
"I'll see you tomorrow," Percy smiled, leaning against the wall of the Athena cabin. She'd known that voice for so long, she would feel empty without it making smart remarks behind her.
"The whole winter break together," she grinned back at him. "Sleep well, Seaweed Brain."
Percy smiled a lop-sided grin and kissed her softly. "You too, Wise Girl. See you in the morning."
She held on one more moment, relishing the warmth and security of being next to him. Reluctantly, she pulled free and walked to her cabin, her feet quiet on the soft, damp grass. Annabeth placed one hand on the handle, but something made her stop and glance back one last time.
The moon had risen above the rooves of the cabins, casting Percy's face into shadow. His silhouette stood against the navy blue sky. The silver moon surrounded his head, creating an eerie halo of soft light.
As she watched, the boy she loved raised his hand in farewell. She turned away and shut the door, already missing the deep green eyes.
Annabeth's legs were aching, forcing her to slow down. She finally came to a stop under a streetlight, leaning against the wall and gasping for breath.
That had been the last time she'd see Percy. Gone. He's gone.
Three weeks, three whole weeks, of looking everywhere, of trying to stay strong when she was dying inside- and what did she have to show for it? Nothing.
I'm sorry Percy, she thought. The rain was still pouring down, soaking through her clothes and trickling down her back. She was shivering violently- how had she not noticed that before?- and her hair was plastered to her head. Water ran down her face like the tears she was trying so desperately not to cry. She couldn't break down and fail Percy, not now. But it was so frustrating, to sit here and not know what she could do to help him. He could be calling for her now, screaming her name and-
A sob burst from her chest so suddenly it startled her. Annabeth took a few deep breaths, steadying herself, blocking out her fear and her anger and her desperation. She would find Percy again.
A/N Good? Bad? No-one's reading this? Please tell me!
Saph :)
