A/N: I was watching "Cuts like a knife" and Maura looked like she really just wanted to make Jane happy. I never thought I could write for Rizzles but here I am with this drabble.
Disclaimer: Man I wish I was a writer on this show... it is sooooo good. but no... I don't own this at all.
Mattress on the Floor
I shake my head looking up at the sky. My minds eye to the day Maura and I lay on my mattress in my living room talking about our childhood fantasies. It was, I suppose the beginning…
"Say my vows at Fenway Over home plate… Wearing a red sox jersey," I said Sheepishly. Maura laughed and looked up at the ceiling.
"It's not dumb," She said shaking her head. "It's not exactly elegant but at least it's colorful."
"We would have the reception over the pitchers mound," I continued wistfully looking at something far out of my reach. "We would serve foot long hot dogs, frozen lemonade, and guests would throw peanuts at us instead of rice."
"Can I come?" Maura said her tone serious.
You could be my bride, I thought as I turned to face her changing the tone from something that would never happen for me. "Maybe," I said.
She was still thoughtful as she said, "Okay." After a few seconds of contemplation her brow furrowed, "A Red Sox jersey?"
"Hey, You're in my Fantasy, you cannot tell me what to wear." I said, she laughed… she laughed and… and… I can't believe I am here.
I'm at hope plate, In Fenway Stadium In my Red Sox Jersey with a big red 24 on my back. In front of me is a Justice of the peace, and right next to me is Maura, in a Vera Wang wedding gown. She is dress impeccably like she always is, and she's radiant.
Her green eyes meet mine, she smiles and I can't help but smile back. My heart literally skipped a beat, because Maura Isles was finally mine. Mine. "Just like in your fantasy." She whispered lacing her fingers with mine. I squeezed her hand happily.
"Just like that…" I whispered back.
"I now pronounce you partners for life." The officiant stated and I turned to my wife… my wife and I kissed her with everything I had.
We compromised on the food choice here, as the guests tossed peanuts and birdseed as we walked out the pitchers mound for our reception table. We not only had Beer, Frozen Lemonade, and Foot long Hot dogs, but we also had a choice of hors d'ouvres of Maura's choosing. Ma came up to us as soon as we got to the table. She hugged both of us fiercely. "I'm so happy." She said tearfully. "I knew it, I always knew this day would come."
I couldn't take her happiness from her; I couldn't mention that she was the one always pushing some guy or another on me. Including Casey, who I loved deeply.
I didn't care because I really wanted to get Maura alone. I wanted to just be with her and only her for the rest of my life. W sat at our table and I looked at her. "I love you, you know that?"
"I love you too Jane." She said smiling radiantly. I leaned forward and kissed her. "Do you wanna get out of here?"
I smirked… Typical Maura. "More than you'll ever know."
