AN:I loved Haymitch and Effie in the books and I just shipped them immediately, then I saw the chemistry in the movie and just loved them more. This is my first Heffie fic, please comment if you want this to be more than just a one-shot
Effie woke up in her bed, she looked outsidew, the sun was brightly shining through her window. Effie got up and passed her reflection in the mirror, a now wig-less and natural blonde haired woman who's face was fresh from make-up. It has been one year since the capitols rein was demolished by katniss. Effie left the capitol to live in 12, don't get her wrong she may have hated how low it was but that wasn't the case...her capitol mind was just a mask, to be told she cared for the people n this now clean and a bit more richer place. She cared for 3 people in particular as you could easily guess. She lived next door to the said people. Today couldnt look or be better. It was Effie's birthday, she had it all planned, she was going to peeta's and katniss's for a birthday tea. Then she will go for a walk in the meadow where she would lie there in the beautiful smelling fragrances. Haymitch said he has two surprises for her, he said it a week ago. and Hour later-
Effie has never had a beautiful birthday tea...ever. Peeta had made her a cake which had her name in pink icing. Haymitch's first surprise was...he was sober...she couldnt have smiled any wider, she thought he cleaned up pretty well and he was so polite, then everyone sang happy birthday, then after Effie mentioned she had never be sung to, katniss stood up and sang her a song which effie cried happily to. That girls voice was beautiful,she could sing. Then she bid them farewell, Haymitch asked if she would join him later, Effie forgot about the meadow. It was night time near around 10pm. He knocked on her door. She said she was going to meet him and he said it would be so impolite to leave a lady alone at night on her birthday, Effie then smiled at that, she noticed he was holding a box too, when they reached the meadow he sat her down in the soft flowerbed grass and he kneeled down with her. He told her to close her eyes and hold out her hands. She felt something furry in her hands, he told her to open them. Staring up at her was the cutess sight she had ever seen, in her arms was a ginger white socked kitten which was licking her finger. She put the cat safely in teh box and flung her self at Haymitch, he put his arms round her waist. "THANKYOU HAYMITCH OH THANKYOU THIS IS THE MOST AMAZING GIFT ANYONE COULD GIVE ME" she said excitedly and then she looked up at him, arms still around each other...They looked into each others eyes, misty gray meeting icy blue. Then they kissed...he held his hands on her cheeks and she just melted there. "Happy Birthday sweetheart" He said quietly and he smiled softly...it was weird cause he never smiled...not like that and he felt it unaturally too but he loved her returning smile. She lay down on the meadow with the kitten in her hands. "Watch the stars with me" she said and they both lay there watching the stars and smiled, gazed, laughed and also decided what name they could give this little kitten that had bonded them together as one..they decided he should be called cupid
