Sandstorm's POV

I remember the time Firestar saved my life, back when I was Sandpaw. It was when I finally stopped teasing him.

Squirrelflight's kits, Alderkit and Sparkkit, had come to ask about when I realized I loved him.

"Okay, so Sandstorm, how did you realize you loved Firestar?"

"Okay, it was back way long ago, when I was Sandpaw..." I started. I was starting to relive the memory as I explained it.

I was tussling with a RiverClan cat, near a rocky gorge. Very close to the rocky gorge. A flash of ginger had pulled the cat off me as I skidded to the edge. Fireheart. He grabbed me by the scruff and I tried to break free angrily as he took me away from the gorge.

I got to my paws when he stopped and I hissed with with rage in my eyes, "I can win my own battles without your help!"

Fireheart took a step forward and was about to explain when he heard howling he looked over and went to help Graystripe.

Sandstorm smiled at the distant memory.

"Later that day, when I remembered that Whiteclaw fell over the edge, I finally realized that he saved my life...and that I loved him." She finished.

"Awww!" Sparkkit squealed.

She turned to Alderkit. "I want a cat who respects me just like that!" She mewed.

"May we please hear another one?" Alderkit asked.

Squirrelflight came in.

"Come on, you two, it's time for you to go to sleep." Squirrelflight instructed.

The kits frowned. "But we wanted to hear another story!" They complained.

"Go to the nursery, now." Squirrelflight demanded sharply.

"Sorry!" They squeaked and ran out of the Elder's Den.

"I hope they weren't too much trouble..." Squirrelflight sighed.

Sandstorm smiled. "No, not at all. They wanted a story about me and Firestar, and it helped me remember the day he saved my life."

Squirrelflight looked puzzled. "I never heard about this!"

Sandstorm put on a mischievous grin. "Aren't you a bit too old to ask for stories?"

Squirrelflight huffed. "I'll just ask Alderkit and Sparkkit." She padded out of the Elder's Den after flashing a grin. "I'm glad to see you smiling again."

As Sandstorm rested her chin on her paws, she heard a yawn.

Graystripe looked over to see Sandstorm smiling.

"You're never smiling, why are you now?" He asked.

"I was just telling Alderkit and Sparkkit the story of the day Firestar saved my life."

"The gorge one?" He asked.

"The gorge one." She confirmed.

He yawned. "I'm going to go get some fresh air."

She looked up and whispered, "I'll love you forever, Firestar."

She could hear an echo through her ears.

"I will love you forever too, Sandstorm."

Sandstorm peacefully fell asleep.

Pokéninjafan19: I was reading Fire and Ice the other day when I found the gorge moment and realized from that moment on Sandpaw had no negative comments towards Fireheart and thought "hey, this could be a nice oneshot." Also, it's not definite that Sandpaw would've fallen off, but she probably would have.
