Holly relaxed into her bed, or should I say Artemis's. She was eager to get a good night's sleep. The events of the day had been stressful. From time-traveling, demonic from-the-past Opal, Extinctionists, and rescuing Jayjay. Then to top it all off Opal had escaped again! And taken Holly's weekend with Artemis from her.
She dropped her head into the fluffy pillows and sighed. Maybe Trouble would take pity on her and let her sleep through the next day. With that thought, Holly dozed off to a dreamless sleep.
Holly woke up to a small noise. It was probably just my imagination, she thought. Though I it sounded pretty real. As if to prove her suspicions she noticed something move in the shadows.
"Hello, Holly," The person said in an ominous voice. It was female and familiar.
"Who's there?" Holly questioned.
The female stepped from the shadows and glared at Holly with piercing eyes. She flicked her pixie hair over one shoulder and cackled.
"Opal!" Holly jumped out of bed and sprung towards her Neutrino. She was quickly hit with a tranquilizer dart shot at her shoulder. She fell on the ground.
The last thing Holly heard, moments before unconsciousness, Opal spoke," I can finally have my revenge on you, Short."
She laughed and then Holly world disappeared in a series of bubbles.
Artemis had decided to stay up much later than usual. It was almost eleven o'clock by now. Wow, he thought, it's late. He was taking a college course on physiology by mean of the computer. It was fairing to be very easy, and the classes were extremely boring.
Maybe he should check on Holly to see if she was asleep. It was her last night in Fowl Manor because Opal had escaped and Holly was needed on the job. It was too bad that he and Holly could never have a nice and un-demanding weekend together.
Artemis was just about to turn off his computer when he heard someone speak from behind.
"Shouldn't you be going to bed?" The feminine creature inquired.
"Ye…sss," Artemis began to speak until he realized who he was speaking to. He was staring at two pixies. Two side-by-side twin pixies. Opal had come back.
"Well, hello Opal," Artemis sneered," Or should I say Opal."
"Hello, Artemis," The older Opal responded, though they looked equally maniacal.
"So, despite the extra guard, Opal- the younger- caused the escape of the older Opal. You probably already have Holly captured. Am I correct?"
"Correct, Holly is right here," The younger Opal said as they both stepped aside to reveal Holly's mangled form tossed on the floor behind them. She had a hypodermic dart shot in her shoulder.
"And now we have you…!" Opal said as she shot a dart into Artemis. The last thing he saw was Holly's still body.
