Max and 99 walked into the Chief's office. A very large thick plastic bag was there.
"Hi, Max, 99."
They both said hi.
"What's that?," asked 99, pointing to the bag.
"That is CONTROL's newest security device—the Bag of Silence."
"The Bag of Silence?," they both said together.
"Yes. I'd like the two of you to test it with me."
He picked it up and stood it upright. Then he opened the flaps. "Now, let's all get in."
"I think we should take our shoes off, first."
"Good idea, 99."
They took them off, then they got into the bag. Then the chief knelt down, grabbed the zipper, and zipped it to the top.
"There. Now, everything we say will be heard only by us. Even if someone pressed their head against it, they could only hear less than 1% of what we say."
"That's ingenious!." said Max.
"We won't have much time before the oxygen runs out," said 99.
"Actually, that's been taken care of. This material is especially designed for that. We can stay in here for as long as we heed to, without breathing problems. Oh, and it's bullet-proof, as well."
"Oh, that's good."
"OK, we can come out, now."
"I'll unzip us," said Max. He fumbled with the zipper. "It's stuck!"
"Max!"
"There it goes. Sorry about that!
He unzipped it, and they got out. They put their shoes back on.
"OK, Max. As of this moment, the Cone of Silence is hereby retired. As a matter of fact, if you demand we use it again, I just might fire you! Is that well understood?"
"Yes, Chief," he said contritely.
"That's all, for now."
Max and 99 left.
"And I was the one who first came up with the Cone of Silence!," he said, in the hallway.
She put her arm around his shoulder. "There, there, Max! It was good, while it lasted."
