Prologue
"Come on, Silver, you can go faster than that."
I was flying on my own two wings. Ever since the Wings Around the Globe race, I was able to fly without an engine. I had lost my engine in a little areal fight during the race. I had cut too close to the pillars, when the engine cut off power, knocking it off of my back. I went to the race for a vision and flight lessons. I was stationed in Propwash for flight lessons. I had friended the crop duster, now a racer, named Dusty Crophopper. Dusty and I would race one another on his time off. (Need to add more)
Just as I flew near the trees for agility, the trees caught fire. I panicked and with that, I franticly flapped my wings into a hover. The fire started to spread, thanks to my wing beats. 'Mayday!' I panicked as I watched the flames spread.
"Silver!" I hear Boostcall my name. Boost is a tuner and the group leader of three others: Wingo, DJ, and Snot Rod. Now, he was training me to gain more strength in my wings. He isn't the nicest compared to Skipper. Skipper is a veteran corsair. He flew in only one mission; but since then, he never flew. During the race, Skipper had no choice but to fly because he overheard Ripslinger say that they were going to take Dusty out. Now back to me; I was hovering slightly over the tree tops, stunned. I had no clue what to do. "Why did you halt?"
'What did you do?' I hear a familiar voice ask with anger. I looked around to see the red helicopter. I have seen this helicopter plenty of times during the race.
'I did nothing, honestly. The tree caught fire and it caught me off guard.' I fretted.
'Well, get away.' He ordered. I obeyed and moved a bit back. 'Stop hovering and get away. You are spreading the fire more.' Without second thought, I quickly spun around to fly forward. I did not leave the site, I only flew near. The helicopter doused the fire within seconds since it was not that big. After he finished, he flew next to me. 'How did it happen?'
'How am I supposed to know?' I glared. 'I was training. I did not set it off.'
The helicopter rolled his eyes. He turned away and flew off. 'Well, next time, watch what you are doing.' He disappeared after that. With confusion, I flew back to Boost. I landed clumsily. My wings felt limp and they dragged across the ground. I noticed Boost drive up to me with anger.
"Why did you stop?" he demanded.
'The tree caught fire.' I explained.
"No it didn't." Boost hissed. "I was watching the whole time. All you did was pause in your training then fly around those trees before flying back here." He narrowed his eyes with suspicion.
Just as we spoke, Mayday had heard my call and raced up to me. "Is there a matter, Silver?"
I watched Boost before looking to Mayday. Mayday is Propwash's fire truck. I changed back to my human form. "I saw fire on those trees…" I point to the trees, "…while I was training."
Mayday looked over to the trees; I followed. They did not look scorched like they had when that red helicopter doused the fire. The trees still had their green foliage as if the fire had never happened. "I don't see no fire." Mayday confirmed. He looks to me. "Are you alright, Silver? Are you going delusional?"
"I saw a red helicopter. He doused the flames." I said.
"I saw no red helicopter." Boost glared at me as he told Mayday.
Mayday looked to me. "What kind of red helicopter?"
"How am I supposed to know? He showed up out of know where scolding me throughout the race." I explained. "Why? Do you know him?" I shook my head, "Never mind that." I looked to the tuners. "When is Dusty coming back from his race?"
"Soon." Wingo said. "Now, let's continue your flight."
"But my wings, they can't carry me for long." I whined. "I don't have the power like an aircraft, guys."
"And you won't unless you stop your whining and practice." Boost hissed. " Now quit fussing and get bac in the air."
"Go easy on her, Boost." That was Kyle, my brother. I can't remember much but that he was my brother.
"Skipper put me in charge of her flying." Boost pointed out. He was right. Before Skipper left to go with Dusty for the race, Skipper put Boost in charge.
'Why couldn't it have been Wingo or Kyle in charge?'I growled as I changed back into my dragon form. My wings felt like they would fall off any moment. My back legs hurt from landing multiple times on the runway. I stalked off but got into flight position. With a quick jump, I thrust my wings downward to gain lift.
Before I got out of hearing distance, I heard Mayday speak, "Maybe Kyle is right. Maybe you should let Silver rest. If you push her, she may not be able to move her wings or worse."
At the desired altitude, I flew forward. More gliding than flapping. Over the past days in Propwash Junction, possible years but I wasn't keeping track, I had learned that I could control the wind. I smirked in my mind. Without thought, the wind picked up speed. I made it so it was flowing underneath my wings to keep me airborne and kept the wind flowing smoothing over the top of my wings to create a smooth glide. 'Call me Skyglider!' I chuckled at the thought of the name. The name just came out of nowhere. I realized I even liked the name.
"Quit joking around, Silverwind." Holley ordered as she came out of nowhere flying next to me. I jumped when I realized she was next to me. I keep forgetting that Skipper was not afraid to fly anymore, but Holley is another story. She is a secret agent. It is kind of weird to see her at Propwash Junction but I have no complaints. I noticed she wasn't pleased by the air current I was making. I quickly toned down the speed to only my wings. Skipper nor any other aircrafts or vehicles that could fly did not care if I used the wind as long as it did not mess with their flight balance. Without her command, I rose altitude straight up. If Boost was going to push me to fly, I get to choose where I go. I just flew straight up.
I learned I could fly straight up while planes, not built for that angle, could stall. Kyle had told me that I loved going to see the air force's air show. He even said I liked the F-22 Raptors the best. He told me that I said that I wished I could fly as fast and as agile as them. Well, if that was true, I have achieved that dream.
The stalling happened to me with that engine I had during the race. I was training with Dusty and we were going to go straight up to the strong air currents. Dusty pulled away but I kept going. My engine stalled and I fell. I was okay as I flipped myself and glided to safety.
Holley followed at an angel so she would not stall. I flew as high as I wanted. I noticed Holley catching up so I quickly brought my wings in half way into a fall-dive. I do this all the time when Boost pushes me to a limit and Holley has to chase me down just to get me to cooperate again. I noticed Holley stare at me angrily. She knew I was doing this just to annoy her and Boost. I closed my eyes as I let myself fall.
Just as I closed my eyes, I was transported somewhere. I looked around to notice that I was in a pine forest. It was gorgeous. I padded forward. This never happened to me before, while falling. As I walked up to a bush, I noticed it had blue flowers growing on them. 'Ohh, Rosemary.' I sniffed the plant. Just as I did, I smelled an acrid scent. I sneezed, freezing the bush. I stumbled back as the frozen water started to move like fire. 'Not again!' I tried to scramble away but I was frozen in place. I stare at the frozen flame in fear. What would a frozen flame do anyway? Just as I thought that, the frozen flame burst into an actual flame. In the fire was images. 'Not this again.' I hissed. But it was different. This time, it showed Dusty and me talking to Mayday. He looked upset. I tilted my head.
'Silver!'
I hear my name being called. I looked around. Again, I see that helicopter. This time, he was hovering in front of me as the fire kept blazing beside us. He did not look pleased.
'Silver!'
Someone called again. I looked around. "You better go." I whipped my head back to the helicopter.
'Why do I always appear here?' I asked.
"You just do." He said. "I have no clue why you are here. Now, you better leave." He didn't sound angry, just informing. I dipped my head to him and he flew off.
"Silverwind!" I shot my eyes open. I watched as Holley was diving after me. I just remembered I was falling. I flipped myself into a nose dive. "What where you doing!" Holley fretted as she dove next me.
'Sorry, Holley. This never happened.' I said. 'It is another vision.'
"Vision?" Boost scoffed. "While you fly?"
When I had been stationed to live in Propwash, Rod, my former mentor, told me I can tell others my secret as long as I could trust them. I had explained to Dusty, Dottie, Skipper, and the tuners about me being an agent and getting visions. I discluded Chug in fear he would go around and telling everyone just like Mater did when I was back in Radiator Springs.
"We better land or you will end up crashing instead." Holley said as we leveled ourselves out. We aimed for the landing pad. Gently, Holley landed while I, once again, land harshly on my hind legs. I cringed at the pain but I did not bother. At least I was free for the day. I did my best to walk normal and not limp. My hind legs felt like someone sliced the bottom of my paws. As I walked away, I saw Holley go to Boost to chat with him. I noticed Wingo and Kyle driving up to me a little worried. I huffed with disappointment. I was going to take this chance to run off. But I can't now because the two raced up to me.
"What happened out there?" Wingo asked.
"We saw you start falling out of the sky. You had that fall in control." Kyle said.
"Then, you had no control." Wingo said.
'I was falling out of the sky and I closed my eyes. When I did, I must have had a vision again. They are coming more frequently.' I sighed.
"You never had visions when I was around." Kyle said.
"If I remember correctly, I remember she did." Wingo said. "But that was a while back."
'Wait…' I shot a look to Wingo. 'You knew me before I changed?'
"Yeah." Wingo kind of chuckled. "I kinda forgot to mention that earlier."
I shook my head in disappointment. 'I need to think about this vision.' I started to walk away. 'You can go back into town and see if Dottie or someone needs help.' Dottie is the mechanic in Propwash and a friend.
The two cars sat there not knowing what to do or say. "Okay, we will be at Dottie's if you need us." Kyle said as the two drove away.
Once, I was out of eye view, I quickly, but weakly, spread my wings and glide off the edge of town. The town was raised a couple hundred feet off the ground below. Quickly, the wind picked up and I used it to my advantage. My wings were tired and I did not want to flap my wings so the wind was my substitute. I had closed my eyes as the wind blasted past.
"Hey!" Someone calls. I open my eyes to notice I was gliding low across a dirt road. I watched as an orange four door car skid out of the way. "Watch where you are going!"
'Sorry!' I call to the red-orange car.
"Moron!" The car calls.
I turned around and landed at the car. I wanted to make sure it was okay. 'Are you okay?'
"Of course I am okay." The car growls. "Watch where you fly."
'I was gliding.' I corrected. 'But I promise I will watch where I go next time.'
The car glares before realizing angrily. "Aren't you that monster named Silverwind?"
'Yeah…?' I eyed the car.
The car looks around before leaning close to me. "I am the new agent."
'Really?' I questioned with shock.
"Yeah." The car said. "The agency said that my mentor will be in Propwash Junction. Her name is Silverwind."
'What?!' I was shocked. 'I just recently stopped being an apprentice.'
"They said that you were ready enough to train an agent-in-training." The car said.
'I hope they're right.' I solemnly said.
"I know you are." The car said cheerfully. "The name's Night Blade."
'Night Blade?' I questioned.
"Yep. Nocturne for short." Night Blade smirked. He reminded me of the tuners: Wingo, Snot Rod, Boost, and DJ.
