Authors note. I've always love DPS. But I hate that Neil dies. So I fixed it ;) This is what should have happened. Drabble.

Todd lay on Neil's bed, unaware that he could hurt this much or cry so hard. He wished his nose was clear again so that he could smell the scent of his friend that lingered here. Just knowing that something of Neil lingered here was a comfort, but he knew that it would fade and when it did he would too. As Neil's pillow caught his tears he thought about all the fun Neil had been.

The sound of the door opening tore him from his thoughts and back to cold harsh reality. Neil was dead. Footsteps indicated that someone was entering the room.

"Todd?" Charlie asked, his voice soft but it sounded too happy to Todd. "Todd, get up." Todd pushed his face deeper into the pillow, feeling it suffocating him, feeling the room spin.

As everything blurred together, Todd felt two strong arms grab him and pulled him up. As Charlie set Todd saw Neil standing in the doorway. Todd closed his eyes. This couldn't be real. Neil was gone. Dead. He couldn't be there…and yet….

"Neil?" Todd's voice was quiet. Neil smiled faintly, his face pale. Todd pulled away from Charlie's grip and hugged his friend tightly feeling crying harder then before, except now the tears were of joy not despair.
