Parental Prerogative

Summary: Ikuko and Kenji Tsukino never really believed that their beloved daughter would someday grow up and leave the nest. Actually, there were a lot of things they never believed. That their daughter could also be Sailor Moon, for example.

Diclaimer: I don't own Sailor Moon. Thank your lucky stars for that.

Author's Notes: Ikuko's scary. But at least she's not as paranoid as Kenji. And this was fun to write, 'cause no one seems to wonder about what their reactions would be if they found out Usagi was Sailor Moon.

Ikuko and Kenji Tsukino were your average parents. They had a son, a daughter, a nice house. No dog (Usagi had a cat, though), but still basically a nuclear family. Their son was named Shingo-he was the younger-and their daughter was Usagi-the older. Their house was in the wealthy Juuban district.

And, like many parents, they never truly believed that their children would someday grow up and leave the house. So when Usagi's last day in her parent's home arrived, they were rather shocked.

Usagi was going to be married to a man named Mamoru Chiba. He seemed nice enough. Ikuko was happy with this, but both she and Kenji would miss their daughter's antics at home. Especially Kenji. When he first saw Mamoru, Ikuko had to wrestle a frying pan out of his hands while Mamoru cowered behind the couch.

But one thing the parents had never imagined, ever, was that Usagi would be Sailor Moon.

She was downstairs about a week before the wedding, looking concerned about something. "Mama? Papa? Can I tell you something?"

The couple had been sitting in the living room, finalizing the guest list. Usagi stood in the doorway, nervously playing with her brooch.

"Of course you can, Usagi," Ikuko answered, putting down the paper she was holding. "What's the matter?"

"Umm...well, you know about Sailor Moon, right?" At her parent's nods, Usagi rushed on. "Well, don't freak out or anything, but...I'm Sailor Moon."

Ikuko and Kenji stared at Usagi blankly, not comprehending why their daughter was saying such an absolutely ridiculous thing. Behind Usagi, in the hallway, Shingo dropped the biscuit he was holding.

Luna, who had been slinking around Usagi's feet, decided to pipe up. After all, this confession had been her idea. "She's telling the truth, you know."

Ikuko screamed. Kenji jumped about a foot into the air. Shingo actually fell over.

"It...it...it TALKED!!!" Kenji screamed hysterically, while Luna stared cooly back.

Ikuko recovered first. Everything fell into place quite suddenly. Usagi was Sailor Moon, and their cat talked, which meant...

"Usagi Tsukino, you have got some explaining to do, missy."
