Revelation
By Aislinn
Ok so the middle of a gunfight is probably not the best time for an epiphany, but sometimes revelation is a fickle bitch. I had hunkered down behind the car keeping my sorry ass down as best I could to avoid being perforated by the barrage of lead coming my way when it hit me out of nowhere. I knew, KNEW beyond a shadow of a doubt that they would come. That I wasn't alone! And I started to laugh. I know what you're thinking, crazy ass southerner laughing in the middle of a firefight. But when you have been hung out to dry by the people you depend on to keep you safe, believe you me, trust is not something you give lightly or easily.
Hell, I am not even sure I can pinpoint just when I started to trust them, when I started to feel like I was actually one of them. To be honest… now cut that out, I CAN be honest… as I was saying, to be honest it just kind of snuck up on me. So even though my cover was blown and half of Denver, it seemed, was trying to put me in an early grave, I wasn't scared. Because I knew that my team would come haul my ass out of the fire, and together we would bust these idiots and put them away for good.
So I kept my head down, conserved my ammo and waited. Sure enough it wasn't long before I caught a flicker of movement up in the rafters. I looked up, and there was Vin looking down at me. I wasn't at all surprised, and I smiled cause where Vin is, Chris and the others aren't far behind. We took them down, and no one ever asked me why I was laughing, although Nathan did give me a strange look. I just grinned and kept on going.
I think Vin understood. He has this uncanny knack of seeing right through a man. But whether they got it or not, that night I felt something unwind and relax inside that had been a tangled knot since the implosion in Atlanta. And damn it felt good.

. The plot bunny that inspired this one woke me out of a sound sleep and said WRITE NOW! ( No kidding. I was sound asleep and bam out of nowhere I was awake and Ezra was yakking away in my ear. I stumbled to the computer to get it all down before Morpheus stole it away again.) And to top it all off as I was finishing this up I noticed the date; Jan. 6th 2011. That's right, Epiphany. My muse must have been in a mischievous mood! LOL.
Kind words you can put in the review section, unkind words you may send to the bill collector of your choice. LOL.
My thanks to my betas, Maven, Aroldo and DeckerM. Ladies as always you are the best and I am blessed to call you friend. Any mistakes left are all my fault. The proper use of commas gives me fits so a special thanks to Christy for editing them all for me. :D Hugs
The Magnificent Seven belong to the alphabet people who don't deserve them, so I am sneaking them out the back door to my place.
The ATF AU is Mog's and I thank her for her generosity in letting us play in her playground. :D
