In the Arms of an Angel

In the Arms of an Angel

Disclaimer: I do not own Bones or this song, In the Arms of an Angel by Sarah McLachlan

Spend all your time waiting for that second chance

For the break that will make it ok

There's always some reason to feel not good enough

And it's hard at the end of the day

Dr. Temperance Brennan was dressed in black today. They had just closed another case. Even to her, this was a hard, heartbreaking case.

I need some distraction oh beautiful release

Memories seep from my veins

They may be empty and weightless and maybe

I'll find some peace tonight

So many innocent people die. It is not fair. The good Doctor was not one to be emotional but this case was different. She was so small. Brennan had worked with children before but she was different.

In the arms of an Angel fly away from here

From this dark, cold hotel room, and the endlessness that you fear

You are pulled from the wreckage of your silent reverie

You're in the arms of an Angel; may you find some comfort here

Her parents had abandoned the victim. Just left her alone in the house. Alone. No one was there to take care of her; to hug her when she cried. Alone.

So tired of the straight line, and everywhere you turn

There's vultures and thieves at your back

The child was but bones now. Bones. Brennan liked bones better than flesh. Bones were hard, unfeeling.

The storm keeps on twisting, you keep on building the lies

That you make up for all that you lack

She was innocent and alone. How cruel life can be. Dr. Brennan knew this well. Abandonment is surrender to the struggles of life, of raising a child. They were just gone to the unknown, never to be found.

It don't make no difference, escaping one last time

It's easier to believe

Temperance had made her way to her office. It was her sanctuary. She felt more at home here than her own home. It was an escape from her own life. She had to take care of someone else's life or they would be lost forever.

In this sweet madness, oh this glorious sadness

That brings me to my knees

Booth was there. She knew he would be. He always was. A sad smile was on his face. He stood up from her couch and put a hand on his Bones shoulder pulling her into a deep embrace. She's in the arms of an angel now. She's not alone anymore.

In the arms of an Angel far away from here

From this dark, cold hotel room, and the endlessness that you fear

You are pulled from the wreckage of your silent reverie

In the arms of an Angel; may you find some comfort here

The two partners walked out of the lab in silent reveries of the past day; of the sad memory of the little girl who was left alone. But she is in the arms of an angel now and she has found some comfort from him.

You're in the arms of an Angel; may you find some comfort here
