Week Long One Year Anniversary

Time Flies

As Arthur Kirkland sat there, in his living room, with Alfred F. Jones lying on his lap while he combed his hand through the younger man's hair, he would have never thought that such a moment could ever happen.

He had been pining for the younger man for many years and it had taken all of his courage and then some to confess to Alfred. He had been afraid of rejection, scared of humiliation, but most of all, fearful of getting turned down. By proof of the current moment they were sharing, everything had turned out for the best.

As faith would have had it, when Arthur had confessed, precisely one year ago to the day, instead of getting mocked by the American, Alfred had simply beamed at him and had hugged him tightly before confessing to his own feelings.

Arthur, at that point, couldn't remember the last time he had felt so euphoric without any help from drugs.

Even though he wasn't the best at expressing his feelings and even though Alfred often got on his nerves, the two somehow just clicked together. They had their disagreements and petty little fights like all other couples had, but at the end of the day, what mattered most was that they both knew it wouldn't last long and that they both cared for each other.

Arthur particularly enjoyed afternoons like these, were it would be too early to go out and do something, but too late to start a chore; when the weather was starting to get colder, but it was always nice and warm inside. He liked it best when they were both quiet and sharing a naked moment of understanding without having to exchange any words. There was a greater bond between them at moments such as these.

Sometimes, they would be watching TV and other times, Alfred would be reading a book while he would be enjoying a nice cup of tea, but they were always silent. Arthur thought there was a sort of beauty to it too. He cherished these moments and stored them in his mind. It was almost as if he looked forward to times like these.

"Hey, Arthur?" Alfred said snapping him out of his train of thought.

"Yes?" The younger man looked up to him from his lying position.

"D'you ever think back on how we met?" Arthur had to smile despite himself.

"All the time, love." Alfred smiled back.

OWARI

Reviews, no matter how short, even if they are anonymous, mean a lot to me and let me know that my writing brings emotions to you readers out there. I see you, the ones who only favourite, the ones who add me to alert, don't think I don't. Even if it's just an exclamation point, it warms my heart.
