A/N: Hey, this is my first try at a Lucas/Haley fic.
Lucas's House
He is standing between Peyton and Brooke. He says,"Hey, I don't want to ruin your friendship, so I think you should both go."
Brooke left, but Peyton stayed. Peyton said,"Luke, who is it?"
"Huh, whatta you mean. I don't understand," said Lucas.
*FLASHBACK*
"Lucas, I like you, I love you," said Haley.
"Haley, I love you, but I don't wanna risk losing our friendship. Remember Maria and Tommy. They went out and they were best friends, but when they broke up they just completely stopped talking to eachother." said Lucas.
"Yeah, you're right, I gotta go." said Haley running away before Lucas could see her tears streaming down her face.
*END FLASHBACK*
"Is it Haley, come on Lucas, you can talk to me," said Peyton.
"Come on, let's go to the basketball court and we can talk. I really need to talk to someone about this, might as well be you. We're good friends, right?" asked Luke.
"Yeah, Luke, come on, I will drive, you don't seem to be in the condition to drive." said Peyton. Her and Luke were close again. They didn't need to be involved romantically to make her feel good, this is good. They drove to the court that Lucas had been to practically every night since he quit little league basketball after finding out Nathan was his brother. They were best friends and then Dan came and ruined it.
"Now will you tell me?" asked Peyton.
"Yeah, it is Haley, but now she's with Nathan. She liked me once, and I told her that I didn't want to ruin our friendship. We were 14 then. I made a huge mistake. I was just afraid of losing her. You know," said Luke.
"Yeah, I do. So, this has become even harder since she's going out with your arch enemy, your brother. You know, when I went out with Nathan, he said that he wished you two could be friends, but it would never happen because of Dan." said Peyton.
"I never even told Haley this, but we were friends at one point," started Lucas.
*FLASHBACK*
"What's your name?" asked 6 year old Nathan.
"Lucas, yours?" asked 6 year old Lucas.
"Nathan. You wanna play?" asked Nathan.
"Yeah, course, I love this game," said Lucas.
"Me too," said Nathan.
Dan came up, he said,"Nathan, what are you doing?"
"Oh, this is my new friend Lucas, daddy," said Nathan.
"Nathan, you are not allowed with... with... him," said Dan.
"Daddy why?" asked little Nathan, not knowing why he wasn't allowed with Lucas.
"Because, Lucas Scott, never come near my boy again, I'm Dan Scott." said Dan.
*END FLASHBACK*
"Wow, did he really do that?" asked Peyton.
"Yeah, he did, and my mom had told me about Dan Scott before then, so I knew the name and left. And now look at me and Nathan. We fight about everything, and he stole the best thing in my life." said Lucas.
"Lucas, tell her." said Peyton.
"I can't, she is going out with Nathan," said Lucas.
"You know what, scratch that, you'll talk to Nathan." said Peyton.
"What, are you insane?" said Lucas.
"No, I just think you two guys could be friends. I want you to be friends with your brother. Now, I am gonna call him and tell him to meet you here." said Peyton.
"I am not talking to him." said Lucas.
"Please, Lucas. While your talking to him, I am gonna go talk to Haley, and tell her some stuff." said Peyton. "Now let's go and get you back home, be here at 6:00 pm. tomorrow, and tell Nathan how you feel about Haley. I am gonna tell him that you want to talk to him."
"Wow, fine okay, I will." said Lucas, Peyton drove Lucas home and then went to Nathan's house. She knocked on his room door after Deb let her in, he was sleeping.
"Peyton, what are you doing here?" asked Nathan.
"I want you to meet Lucas at the park court to talk, please Nathan, go. Don't think that I don't remember you telling me that you want to be friends." said Peyton.
"Are you insane?" he asked.
"Wow you two are alike, he asked me the same thing. Come on Nate. You two need eachother. You need someone to talk to about your problems at home and he needs someone to talk to about how he feels. You know, he told me that you two were hanging out playing basketball when you were 6 and Dan told you that you couldn't hang out with him. You didn't know why, but Lucas knew, his mom told him." said Peyton. "He wants to be friends with you, too, you know."
"I don't know why I am doing this, but okay, I will." said Nathan. 'I do want to get to know my brother. I want to be his friend. I want him to be able to talk to me and I want to be able to talk to him. Peyton is an angel.' "You know what, thanks."
"No problem Nate." said Peyton. She was satisfied. "You know, he loves Haley, you should let him have her."
"I will," said Nathan.
THE COURT
Nathan was sitting there waiting for Lucas. He went there at 5:00 to just clear his mind. 'Oh God, here's his truck. He's getting out and walking over.'
"Nathan," said Lucas.
"Lucas," said Nathan.
"Well, Peyton wants us to talk. I want us to talk. Peyton said you want us to talk, so let's talk." said Lucas.
"Look, Lucas, call me Nate, please," said Nate.
"Okay, Nate. Call me Luke." said Lucas.
"Look, Luke, I understand we don't get along, but I want to. I want to get along with my brother no matter what my stupid father says. But you know what. He feels guiltier than he lets on. When he sees you, he'll get a sort of softness in his eyes that I never see unless he sees you. I love my dad and all, but I am mad at him for leaving you. And I am sorry for taking Haley from you. I never knew you liked her in that way and I never wanted to haze you and all. We do it to all new players and we normally welcome them after a week, but it got personal after that. So, consider this your welcoming, and you get Haley back if we can be friends... brothers." said Nathan.
"Nate, you weren't stupid like me. I turned her down when she told me she liked me. Are you sure, though. I mean, Haley is alot to give up." said Lucas.
"Man, I ain't giving her up, I am merely letting us just be friends because I know she loves you and you love her and I want to see my brother happy." said Nathan.
"Wow... what brought this on?" asked Lucas.
"I don't know, you wanna play?" asked Nathan.
"Yeah," Lucas laughed.
Lucas beat Nathan 23 to 20.
"Let's go get something to eat," said Nathan.
"Yeah, where you wanna go?" asked Luke.
"Wanna got to your mom's cafe?" asked Nathan.
"Not really," said Lucas.
"Then let's go to McDonald's," said Nathan.
"That sounds good," said Lucas. And the brother's went in Lucas's truck because Nathan walked. When they got there, Nathan ordered a Big Mac Meal. Lucas ordered the same. Tim, Nathan's friend, came over to the table.
"What are you doing?" asked a very surprised Tim.
"Hanging out with my brother," said Nathan.
"You two aren't fighting anymore," asked Tim.
"Nope," said Nathan.
"See ya, Nathan, Lucas."
"See ya Tim," said Nate.
"See ya, Tim," said Luke.
Tim left. Dan walked in.
"Nathan, what are you doing?" asked Dan, but this time he didn't seem mad.
"Hanging out with Lucas," said Nathan.
"Lucas, would you talk to me for a few seconds?" asked Dan.
"Uhh," Lucas looked at his brother and dad. "Sure."
"Okay, we'll take a ride. We'll be right back Nate."
"Okay," said Nate.
Lucas and Dan walked to Dan's car and Dan started driving.
"I'm sorry, Lucas." said Dan.
"For what, abandoning me, or no wait, for not helping my mom out," said Lucas. "You have every right to be mad. I was young and mad a mistake, and I would like to correct that now, please. Let me get to know you." Dan pleaded with his firstborn son.
"Fine, I will give you a second chance, if and only if, you apologize to my mom, but right now, I need to talk to Nathan. We'll go to dinner on Saturday. At which time you will come to pick me up and apologize to my mom." said Lucas.
"Alright," said Dan.
"Thank you, now get me back to my brother." said Luke.
"Okay, Luke, would you like a new car?" asked Dan.
"You can't buy me things to make me like you, but yes I would. You have to earn my trust." said Luke.
"Okay, and we'll get that new car Saturday, after dinner." said Dan, dropping Lucas off at McDonald's. "See ya, son. Saturday."
"Bye, Dan." said Lucas. Dan left and then Luke's cell rang. It was flashing Peyton's cell. Hello, Peyton."
"Hey, Luke," said Peyton. "How is everything?"
"Great. You'll never guess who I'm going to be having dinner with Saturday," said Luke.
"Who?" asked Peyton.
"Dan Scott," said Lucas. "Anyway, how're things with Haley?"
"Well, Nathan told her that he just wanted to be friends. Then I come in and we tell her that you like her. And..." Peyton said, trying to make him mad.
"What?" he screamed.
"You are officially going out with the one and only Haley James." said Peyton.
"Thank you so much Peyton. Well, me and Nate are at McDonald's, come here and bring Haley." said Luke.
"Okay," said Peyton.
A half an hour later, Haley and Peyton came into McDonald's.
"Hi," Luke said shyly to Haley.
"Hello," said Haley.
"Will you two kiss already?" screamed Nate and Peyton in unison.
"Alright," said Lucas, giving Haley the most passionate deep kiss ever. A kiss that they have both been wanting for the longest time. "You wanna go out tonight?"
"Yeah." said Haley.
"Peyton, you wanna go out tonight? I have changed alot since we went out last." said Nathan.
"Yes, Nathan," said Peyton.
HALEY AND LUCAS'S DATE
"So, what do you want to do?" Lucas asked Haley. They were sitting on his porch.
"I don't really care as long as it's with you." said Haley. He kissed her forehead.
"I am so glad we're together." said Lucas.
"Me too," said Haley. "So, you and Nathan acting brotherly?"
"Well you didn't here the rest of it. Dan came in and asked if he could talk to me. I said yes. We went for a ride. He said he's sorry. He is gonna apologize to my mom. He is gonna buy me a new car and he is going to take me out to dinner tomorrow." said Lucas.
"Well, that is sorta a good thing. You getting to know your dad." said Haley.
"Yeah, but what is even better is us being together." Lucas said, kissing her.
"Yeah," said Haley. "I love you."
"I love you, too," said Lucas.
