Chapter 1
Madeline and Alfred Jones never liked their old town in Washington. The kids there were massive jerks, the teachers were massive jerks, and they were always made fun of for everything. Their mother, for example, was the best doctor in their town hospital. She'd always do her best for her patients, even if they were rude to her. She was kind to all of them. But that was tossed aside to the fact that she was Native American- Cree to be exact. The kids in their school would always ask if she, 'Consulted the Great Spirit on how to cure her patients.'
They also made fun of their Dad too. These people didn't like the idea of him not marrying another white woman. "Bunch of racists they are," Mr. Jones would always mutter. "Can't accept that this is the 21st century, and we can marry whoever we want."
"Just ignore them. Those who belittle others are not even worth a thought of yours." Dr. Jones reassured him as she looked over her old medical books.
But that wasn't the only reason the twins were made fun of. They seemed like normal kids. They both played video games, spent too much time on the internet, and got passing grades. But ever since they could remember, strange things had always happened to/around them.
Sometimes they were small, like the time Alfred got too excited about going to Disneyland and every single electronic item in the house exploded (which included Madeline's Nintendo that she had saved up to buy with her allowance). But other times they were just downright weird, like the time Madeline turned invisible when she was 5. Only her voice could be heard, but she wasn't seen for a full hour before she became tangible again. Or the time Alfred wished he could fly. It took their father forever to convince him to let go of the chandelier.
Because of those things, they had no friends, and were known as the freak shows of the school. They were afraid it would be just like that when they go to middle school. Until they heard that they were going to move to...
"Britain?" Madeline asked after their father announced it.
Mr. Jones nodded excitedly. "Yeah! I got a call from Greenwich University and they need someone to fill in for their forensic science department."
"London?!" Alfred exclaimed. "But we can't go to London! What about the time Christmas rolls around and some sort of alien targets that place!?" Alfred said frantically while the rest of the family stared at him, but concluded it probably came from a show that he was watching.
"It'll be a great start for all of us." Their mother said gently. "You'll make new friends there, and you'll get to learn what it's like being in another country. It'll be great!
"And they have excellent schools there." Said their father. "A bit confusing for my taste, but excellent."
So that's how they ended up in a creepy old 4 bedrooms, 2 story home that was in the gray city. They were happy that they get their own rooms and get to decorate it. The house was crowded around other houses, making them feel like they were living in apartments. The only difference was that they had more room and a back yard with a large oak tree and no one but them came outside the houses.
Quickly, they became bored. There were no kids to hang out with and their books and electronics were still unpacked. And so far, the strangest thing that's happened was that Alfred ended up on top of the fridge. Both the twins were now laying on the grass outside their backyard.
"I'm bored." Alfred declared while picking grass. Alfred was rather short for his age, something that he hated. He had his grandfather's electric blue eyes that always seemed as if her were planning something. His blonde hair stood up in all different directions, with a single strand on top of his head that wouldn't go down for anything. His mother had once tried to see if she could hold it down, but nothing worked. He also had his mother's darker skin tone, which made his lighter features stand out more.
"I can tell after the hundredth time you said that." Madeline sighed. The elder of the twins had her father's curly blonde hair with a strand of a curl sticking out. And unlike Alfred, she had her father's warm lilac eyes and lighter skin tone. She was a couple inches taller than Alfred, which she subtly mentions to him from time to time.
He sighed and sat up. "Wanna play catch?"
"You're just gonna throw it at my face." Maddie grumbled and rolled on her stomach to glare at her brother. "We can play street hockey."
This time Alfred glared at his sister. "No thanks. You're really scary when we play hockey." He frowned and they both looked up at the sky. To be honest, this wasn't much of a change from Washington so far. Just like in their old city, the sky was gray and cloudy. It was also gray and cold. The only difference is that in London he hasn't seen a single ray of sunshine. Alfred huffed, and spotted an owl flying across the cloudy sky.
"Dude, look!" He pointed to the bird so Maddie could see.
"What about it?" She asked, unimpressed.
"An owl! In daytime! They usually hunt at night! It's rare to see them out here!" He jumped up and down. "Dude, look!"
She still didn't see why Alfred was so excited about the owl, but shrugged it off. "Wanna go look up and see where we can go for our birthday? It is next month." She asked. He nodded and walked in with her to look up places they can go for their birthday.
A/N: Have I ever said how much I love Harry Potter? No? Well, I AM OBSESSED WITH HARRY POTTER.
I've been planning this one for a while and thought, "Hell, why not?" This has some characters from the Harry Potter world too. This also takes place in the year of 2016
