Once upon a time there were a group of merfolk, who by moonlight dance along the shore of the beach one day each week, and they leave there skin in a pile near them to collect later.
Walking down the moonlit beach was Roberto, he heard the merfolk singing and dancing concealing himself behind a rock he quickly became entranced by the dancing mermaid amara.
After watching her for a few weeks he decided to steal her skin so without being noticed he quickly grabbed it and ran home and concealed it in the barn. The next night, he went down to the beach and saw her walking along the shoreline mourning the loss of her family and lover.
Roberto immediately went to her and tried to calm her, she asked him to restore her skin but he said that it was impossible and the sight of her beautiful tear stricken face steeled his heart. He told her it was impossible to return to her family and they would forget her soon enough, finally he asked her to marry him.
Reluctantly she agreed seeing that there was no other choice, the next day they were married and they lived together on his farm for a couple of months. During that time Roberto would often see amara sneak down to the beach where a merman with hair the colour of fire would be waiting for her.
One afternoon amara decided to explore the barn she was walking around the stacks of hay when she saw something curious sticking out of one of the hay stacks, she tugged it free and gasped seeing as it was her mermaid skin, excitedly she ran from the barn, through the town and down to the beach.
Roberto saw her rush by with the skin horrified he quickly ran after her but was too late she had already jumped into the water, Roberto watched helplessly on the shore as john kissed his recently retuned wife.
