Through the Looking Glass

I looked across the glass at the open field. No one... no one was there. No matter how hard I looked I saw no one, no person, no thing.

For days I had walked. No end to this glass. No end to this hell.

No matter how much I screamed no one heard. I was trapped and pained. Traveling too fast to see, too fast to hear. I ran and ran... no way out.

Running and running, I never knew being alone would feel like forever.

I stopped in my tracks at what I saw. A girl so young and pained.

I ran and ran trying to find. She ran and there was no catching. She was moving too fast to hear, too fast to see.

I screamed out but she did not hear. I was still alone. She stopped, saddened.

I took my chance to be free. I ran to her and she saw me. She looks so happy. I yelled to her a cry of joy but she cannot hear.

She shakes her head and put her hand to her ear. I can't hear.

I yelled and yelled, but no victory came. She tried also, but I could not hear... this glass was hell.

I pounded and pounded but she could not hear. She took out some felts and I was in tears.

Can you write? She asked.

I nodded, and she smiled. She dug a small hole, just enough to pass the felt right at me. The dirt filled up to fast to see. And she smiled brightly.

Hello I wrote, almost happy.

Hi. She smiled, just as bright.

I sat down so I could rest, she followed just the same.

We talked and we wrote for what seemed an eternity, filling the glass with happiness and joy.

You are beautiful. I told her and she blushed a bright pink.

Thank you... She smiled, as happy as could be.

I want to be with you. I frowned.

You are with me. She wrote confused.

I put my hand to the glass, a feeble attempt to break free.

She raised her hand and placed it to the glass mirroring mine.

I frowned and stood up, dragging my hand away.

I punched and punched. The glass would not break. There was nothing I could hate more than this stupid glass

She raised her hand in worry and mouthed. No! No!

I ignored her silent pleas and continued to break free from hell.

Crack

The glass cracks and I motion her out of the way, still ignoring her plea.

The glass breaks away and I am free. But not for long I know. I hug her quickly before returning to my side.

I cry in pain as the glass breaks my arm.

She cries to me and I hear her voice once before hell takes me.

I feel the pain shoot through me, it almost hurts as much as being stuck behind the looking glass.

We were both trapped in our worlds, no way out but to go deeper into hell.

Bound by my parents, bound by hers we stare at each other in pain.

Are you okay. She asks me. I nod in response and she smiles at me.

Want to talk? She asks.

I can't. I write. It is all scribbled and ruined, not the same, never the same.

Find away... She smiles. Find a way out of hell.

We look at each other one last time before standing up and walking out of hell. Walking together away from it all.
