Hugo had left the tree-house because he was such a big baby. Rose stayed in what to her was one of those things her grandfather had talked about, flanes.

But she longed for flying on a broom. Maybe her dad would say yes when her mother was at work…

Rose grinned.

Her cousins had arrived. They were at the terrace. Lily chased Hugo.

"Hello, Roise."

"Teddy!"

She jumped down. Tripped. Grass-stains.

Didn't care.

Hugged him tight.

Missed smiles of embarrassment Teddy gave his godfather.

Missed her mother whispering "how cute…"

Missed her father stare at her mother, drop his meat.
