Stepping on holy ground

I smile as I looked at the stone. Its red glow clearly showed the spark of its nic-name red water. Beguiled so many times before, we finally had it. The philosopher stone, the legendary alchemic item that amplifies alchemic reactions, and all the other names for this one small stone. The ultimate power was finally in our hands. Father Cornelio was the first to trick us, and then there are the Tringham brothers. There were so many I couldn't remember them all.

I looked at Al. his body language expressed his nervousness, even though he tried to hide it. It was soon that he would get his true body back. "Al", I said as I gestured for him to come over.

"What is it nii-san", he asked as he ran over.

"Let's do it. Let's become whole again."I said as we walked towards the transmutation circle.

"Ya."

We stood in the center of the circle, Al clinking his metal from not knowing what to expect.

" To the truth we go". We were going to step on the sacred land. We were going to step on holy ground. I grinned as I thought of the truth. Watching our bodies deconstruct, we went to beyond the boundaries of humanity.

Opening my eyes, I looked at my hands. They were real, human, normal, natural, organic. When I looked at Al, he was whole. Now a human, a tear trickled down his cheek. The joy of having back what was once lost left him speechless. The only surprise was that his body hadn't aged since he lost it to god.

" Brother we got your wish, "he said holding back tears.

"ya. You finally got your body back. How does it feel?" getting up I smiled.

"what have you come for," the truth questioned demanded.

I looked over and saw it was sitting holding its left leg to his chest, and the other lazily flopped in front of it.

"Well hello old friend. It's been 3 years since you took my right arm and left leg, not to mention you took my brothers whole body," I said walking towards it.

"I didn't take his body. You traded it for your dear old mommy."

"True, but you didn't give us our mother".

"I gave you as much as you paid."

"Well that's old news. Who care anymore?"

"so why did you come here then", it questioned confused.

"To kill you."

"oh, you're funny. You have a slight problem. How are you, a human, going to kill me, a god?"

"Well I'll show you. I was never big on tell, I always liked show"

"why don't you try." It said with a smile.

Putting my hands together, I ran towards him. "I will become you by giving up my body and soul".

"What?"

All was consumed by the alchemic reaction. Nothing was visible. I was becoming a god. I heard a faint sound, "no brother stop". And then...nothing.
