"I dare you to go in." Twelve-year-old Aaron told the little girl.

The girl shivered with fear. She had heard that the old house was haunted. But she had never turned down a dare. She accepted.

The girl approached the house fearfully. She shrieked as the termite-ridden floorboards crumbled underneath her weight.

She was a young girl. Only nine years old. Short black hair the color of the sky darkened by clouds on a moonless night reached down to her shoulders. And her eyes. Her eyes were the color of coal.

The girl could've sworn that she heard someone moving upstairs. She froze. It was only the sound of the wind.

The child slowly made her way up the stairs. The stairway collapsed once she made it to the top. No going back now.

The young girl walked toward the bedroom on the far left. She felt drawn there, somehow.

She opened the door and was greeted by several clouds of dust. She coughed as the dust filled her nose and mouth.

Once the dust cleared, she could make out some old fashioned items. An old doll. Some clothes. A bed. It was a child's room.

The girl wondered if the child had been a boy or a girl. As she searched, a young man watched her. The man had lightly tanned skin and onyx eyes. His hair was long and black as if it he hadn't cut it in a long time.

The girl felt herself being watched.

"Who's there?" She demanded. There was no answer. "I know your there." She was beginning to panic. "Okay, you've got me. I'm scared." Still no answer. "I know who you are! You can stop now." When no one answered, the girl began to freak out. She knew it was only Aaron and his buddy Michael, but she was very scared.

It got very cold. The girl shivered. Just those dumb boys playing with the heater. She told herself.

Suddenly, a man appeared.

"I knew you'd come back to me…Pan."

The girl screamed and jumped out the window. She proceeded to get up and run.

Two hours later, Aaron began to get worried. Emma had been in that house for a long time.

He entered the house.

To his surprise, everything looked normal. There was no sign that Emma had even been there. He had heard the floorboards crack and the stairway fall, but everything was fine. The house almost looked new.

Aaron assumed that Emma had recorded the sounds he heard and played them just to scare him.

Aaron went home.

But something was wrong. When Aaron asked his parents about Emma, they simply said that he was too old to have an imaginary friend. When he asked his teachers, they responded with the same thing. When he asked his friends, they asked if Emma was his girlfriend. He went to her house, but found no trace of Emma. Emma's parents claimed that they had no children and Emma's room was a guest room. It was as if Emma had never existed.
