Hey everyone. This is just a random OS that popped in my head so I had to write it. I'm not a native speaker so there might be some mistakes.

I do not own Life with Derek.

AT QUEEN'S WITH DEREK

Casey and Derek were sitting on the couch; Casey's head was resting on Derek's laps. They were taking a break from their long hours of studying. Their third year at Queen's was even more difficult than the other two.

They had lived in this tiny flat for about two years now, and their live together went on well. More than well actually, because they became a couple two years ago. Their family didn't find this odd; they even encourage it, saying that now they were a real family. Well, that was odd.

The phone rang, and Casey groaned. She didn't want to rise from the couch. Derek stood up carefully, not wanted to crash Casey's head, and answered the phone.

"Hey Lizzie" he said. "What's up?"

Casey didn't hear what her sister was saying, but Derek turned his head toward her and said to Lizzie:

"Yeah, she's here too, I put the speaker on, ok?"

"Ok" Lizzie voice came to her. "Well, actually we had to tell you something."

"You better sit down" said another voice coming from the phone.

"Edwin! Shut up."

"Houch."

She must have punched him.

"Well, what I was trying to say…"

Casey could perfectly picture the glare that her sister was throwing at Edwin. She would have laugh but the hesitation in her sister's voice made her nervous.

After one more moment of silence at the other side of the line, Edwin spoke up:

"Oh for heaven's sake, Liz, I'll do it. Lizzie and I are together now."

It was just like someone had slapped Casey on the face, hard.

"What?" she exclaimed, heading for the phone. "What?"

"Case…" Derek said. We're not…"

"What do George and Mom think about it?" Casey asked.

"Seriously guys?" Edwin said. "They are just happy for us, you know. We're like seventeen anyway and they trust us."

"Good for you" Derek said, a smirk spreading across his face. "How long has it been going on?"

"Well, about six years?" Lizzie joked. "No seriously, we have been going out for two weeks now."

"Two weeks?" Casey cracked as she sat down on the floor.

"Is Casey ok?" Lizzie asked, really concern for her sister's welfare.

"Oh she will be" Derek assured. "She just has to…think it over."

Casey had now her head between her knees and was trying to calm her breath.

"Err… I have to go" Derek said. "We'll call you later ok?"

"Ok" Lizzie answered.

She seemed a bit shaken by her sister's reaction, and who could blame her? Casey was overreacting, as always.

"Case?" Derek asked as he sat next to her. "You all right?"

"Do I look like I'm all right?" she groaned.

"Come on, Casey, it's not that bad."

"It's my fault."

"What?"

"That's our fault Derek" she said.

She stood up and faced him.

"We have a bad influence on them! Oh my god… Derek, that's terrible! My mom's gonna say it's all my fault, and yours for that matter, and then…"

"Hush, Case" Derek said as he put his hands on her shoulders. "Really, you need to cool off."

Casey looked sheepishly at him.

"Case, we don't do drugs, we are in college, and you are the most sensible person I've ever known; I don't know how we could be bad influence."

"But…"

"No. You remember their reaction when we told them about us?"

"Yeah" (she chuckled) "All they had to say was "it's about time"."

"That's right, they were just happy for us, they didn't judge us."

"Oh my…" Casey said as realization entered her head. "Lizzie must hate me now."

"No, you're her sister, she could never hate you. Hey, look at me" (he raised her chin with his thumb). "They believed in us when no one did, so I think we have to believe in them."

Casey sighed and kissed him briefly.

"You're right."

"As always" he answered with a cocky smile.
