Hinata and Sakura were going for a walk around the city. Sakura looked at Hinata and noticed that she looked more nervous than usual. She was used to Hinata being shy, but this time, she seemed to have something important on her mind. Sakura nudged her and asked, "What's up?"
Hinata nervously asked, "What do you mean?"
Sakura smirked and responded, "Me asking you what's up is enough to scare you?"
Hinata paused and said, "I'm sorry. I probably look overly fragile right now."
Sakura asked, "So, what's on your mind?"
Hinata tried to hide her nervous facial expression, by replacing it with a light smile, and saying, "Don't worry about it. There's nothing to be concerned about."
Sakura knew her friend well enough to tell something was on her mind. She said, "Come on, Hinata. I know you're worrying about something. Spit it out."
Hinata took a long pause, wondering if she should tell her friend. She could tell that Sakura would keep asking her about it, so she figured she better tell her. She shyly said, "Well, it's been a long time since I've seen Naruto. I miss him."
Sakura had an amused look on her face, while saying, "Oh, you miss your boyfriend."
Hinata had a scared look on her face, while replying, "Don't word it like that."
Sakura asked, "Well, aren't you dating him?"
Hinata said, "It's complicated."
Sakura tried to help her friend loosen up, so she patted her on the back, and said, "Come on, it's easy. Just ask him out and your fear will be over."
Hinata shook her head and replied, "If I asked him out, that wouldn't stop the fear, It would make new fears show up. It's too dangerous!"
Sakura sarcastically responded, "Oh, I totally agree with that. Asking out a guy is about as fearful as being chased by a dozen snakes."
Hinata folded her arms and said, "You're making fun of me, aren't you?"
Sakura casually answered, "More or less."
Hinata tried to sound brave, while saying, "For the record, I'm not a complete coward. I have some bravery, deeply hidden."
Sakura replied, "That's great to hear. It's time for your bravery to stop hiding and come out. Embrace your bravery."
Hinata shyly responded, "I'll probably do that."
Hinata and Sakura continued walking. After another fifteen minutes of walking, Sakura said, "That's enough walking, for now. You should stop and relax."
Hinata stopped walking and replied, "Good idea, Sakura. I appreciate you taking me on this walk. It's been nice."
Sakura responded, "Yeah." She signaled to Naruto, who was standing nearby.
Hinata looked around and saw a small lake. She laid next to the lake and dipped her hair into the water. She closed her eyes and relaxed. Naruto walked by and wanted to give her a nice, sweet greeting. However, he tripped over some pebbles and fell into the lake. Hinata opened her eyes, because she heard a big splash. She turned around and saw Naruto, who was splashing around the lake. Hinata was surprised to see him. Part of her was glad to see him, but another part of her was extremely shy.
Naruto said, "Hi Hinata."
Hinata shyly replied, "Hi Naruto."
Sakura walked up to Hinata and explained, "I had Naruto meet up with us."
Hinata looked at Sakura and whispered, "Why did you do that?"
Sakura said, "I know you've missed Naruto, for a while now. That's why I had you go on this walk."
Hinata replied, "You tricked me into seeing him."
Sakura sarcastically responded, "Tricking you into seeing your crush was so cruel of me. It's about as harsh as locking you in a barn, with a lion."
Hinata nervously asked, "What am I supposed to do?"
Sakura pointed to the swimming Naruto and said, "Go flirt with him."
Hinata screamed, "No!"
Sakura said, "If you don't stop letting your fear control you and don't start talking to Naruto, I'm going to push you into the lake."
Hinata replied, "Hey, that's not nice."
Sakura responded, "Well, it's not nice to deny yourself and Naruto of happiness, so go be honest about your feelings."
Hinata sighed and replied, "Okay then."
Hinata started walking to the lake, slowly. She saw Naruto, who was taking advantage of falling into the lake, by swimming and playing around. Hinata waved to him, so he waved back. Hinata took a long pause, before saying, "Hi Naruto."
Naruto replied, "Hi sweetheart."
Hinata was surprised to hear Naruto call her that. She nervously asked, "Why did you call me that?"
Naruto was also surprised that he called her that. It slipped out of his mind and made things a little awkward. He tried to maintain his dignity, by explaining, "You have a sweet heart. That's why I called you that."
Hinata blushed and replied, "Oh, that actually means a lot to me."
Naruto was pleasantly surprised to hear that. He stepped out of the lake. Both him and his outfit were super wet. He said, "Wowsers, it looks like I took a shower, while fully dressed."
Hinata replied, "That's how I used to take showers, so I won't tease you about it."
Naruto responded, "You're never one to tease others, in general. You're always so kind and gentle."
Hinata smiled and said, "Thank you, Naruto. You're the most precious guy."
Naruto took a long pause, before saying, "Sakura told me to come here and meet up with you."
Hinata replied, "Sakura didn't tell me that, until our walk was over. I didn't even know you'd be here."
Naruto smirked and responded, "I hope I'm not an unpleasant surprise."
Hinata shook her head and replied, "You're never a bad surprise. I missed you so much. Everyday, I would think and hope that I would see you soon." She paused, thinking about what she had just said. She was taking Sakura's advice, about revealing her true feelings, and it was embarrassing her. She facepalmed and whispered, "I shouldn't of said that. I want Naruto to know that I like him, but I don't want him to think I'm a clingy coward."
Naruto overheard her, so he gently patted her on the back, and said, "I don't think you're cowardly."
Hinata felt a sense of relief, while asking, "Really?"
Naruto tried to make Hinata feel better, while saying, "You're one of the bravest girls I know. When danger comes, you let your intensity and fierceness motivate you to stop the bad guys."
Hinata had a confused, but amused look on her face, while saying, "That's a nice sentiment, but that's not what I act like."
Naruto nervously laughed and replied, "I guess I was making stuff up. I'm sorry about that, but I was trying to make you feel better."
Hinata smiled and responded, "You did make me feel better."
Naruto replied, "Yeah right."
Hinata gently grabbed Naruto's hand and started holding hands with him, while saying, "Just seeing and talking to you has been making me feel better."
Naruto was surprised, but he was glad to hear that. A thought popped into his head. It was an embarrassing thought, but he figured he should ask it. He asked, "You really care about me, don't you?"
Hinata said, "I do."
Naruto replied, "I really like you too." He looked down and saw that he and Hinata were holding hands.
Hinata shyly responded, "I'm sorry holding onto your hand, without permission."
Naruto tried to make her feel better, by saying, "You don't need to have my permission. You can hold hands with me, whenever and wherever."
Hinata blushed and replied, "Wow, that's quite the honor. If that's the case, I might never stop holding hands with you."
Naruto had a mildly nervous look on his face, while asking, "You're joking about that, right?"
Hinata had an amused look on her face, while feeling surprised about Naruto asking such a silly question. She said, "Of course I'm joking. Did you really think I would hold onto your hand and never let go?"
Naruto said, "I didn't think so."
Sakura walked by, to check up on Hinata. She looked around and saw Hinata and Naruto holding hands. She lightly smiled and said, "It seems like things are going well."
Hinata replied, "Yes they are."
Sakura whispered to Hinata, "Have you asked him out?"
Hinata whispered back, "No I haven't."
Sakura whispered, "You better do it. You're lovingly holding hands with him. It's obvious you're gushing over him and he has similar feelings for you. Don't let nervousness ruin your chance of getting a date." Sakura walked away, so Hinata could ask out Naruto, in private.
Hinata looked at Naruto and said, "There's something I've wanted to ask you. I should of asked you a month ago, but I was being a shy coward."
Naruto calmly replied, "No need to be scared, Hinata. Go ahead and ask your question. I'm not going to judge you or make fun of you, so be brave."
Hinata took a long pause, trying to work up her courage. She looked at Naruto and said, "I really like you and I want to go on a date with you."
Naruto replied, "I'm really glad you asked that, because I want to go on a date with you too."
Hinata felt relieved and excited, while asking, "Really?"
Naruto said, "There's no girl I like more than you."
Hinata pulled Naruto closer and kissed him. After the kiss was over, Hinata got embarrassed, feeling surprised that she kissed her crush. She shyly said, "I hope you're not mad about that."
Naruto replied, "I'm not mad at all. That was super sweet and cute, the two things you never fail to be."
Hinata was so happy to hear that, that she gave Naruto another kiss. She decided to stop hiding her feelings, so she said, "I love you."
Naruto replied, "I love you too."
After Hinata and Naruto finished scheduling their date, Hinata pranced to Sakura and said, "Thank you for making me embrace my true feelings."
Sakura replied, "You're welcome. So, you and Naruto are going on a date?"
Hinata smiled and responded, "Yes, we're going to date and fall in love."
Sakura gently nudged her friend and said, "You two are already in love."
Hinata thought about it and replied, "You're right. I'm in love with Naruto." Hinata started skipping to her house. She was still shy, but happiness was her primary and strongest emotion.
