Kay's Jutsu
Summary: This trick was getting old. And frankly, it wasn't professional for her chosen vocation... It wasn't.
While the knife would be the obvious murder weapon he couldn't actually bring himself to say such a thing aloud. It was just wrong. This whole crime scene in front of him... the way the body was positioned sitting against the wall, the knife laying on the ground next to it as if it slipped out of the body due to the blood coming out of the wound. Not to mention the time it was discovered. This was clearly a-
"This is a set up!" Kay shouted, pumping a fist into the air as she interrupted Edgeworth's thoughts with practiced ease. Or was it premeditated?
Edgeworth frowned, fingers tapping along his arm for a moment. Kay was always doing this it seemed, taking the words right out of his mouth before he had a chance to speak them himself. Even so he could feel a small part of him sigh mentally, I was going to say that.
"'That's what I was going to say.' Is what you were thinking just now, wasn't it?"
Kay was grinning at him from where she was crouched on the ground next to the corpse. "Hm," he let out something akin to a huff, scowling a bit now. Wasn't she suppose to be a thief? Why was she acting like a coroner? They had Gumshoe for that... on second thought, never mind.
Edgeworth straightened up. "Let's-"
"'Just focus on the case.'" Kay even went so far as to mimic his tone of voice this time. A single second of silence followed as he stared at her; then she grinned, evidently laughing at whatever expression had taken place on his face.
"Would you-"
"Stop doing that?" Kay made her voice go deeper for the first two words before resuming her usual volume. This time he remained silent, just folding his arms across his chest. "This usually works." Kay said while replicating his stance, now standing up.
His scowl deepened. "That's-"
"Enough Kay, 'kay."
How long was she going to keep this up? For that matter, how long could she keep this up? No, don't think that, she'll read your mind again.
From the grin on Kay's face she had heard his unspoken words. "Want to have an esper competition?"
The temptation to slap himself in the head was steadily growing. "A crime scene isn't-"
"'A playground.'" Kay finished for him.
He held his tongue for a mere second. "You have one minute of free time."
"Yay!" Kay jumped into the air, raising her arms as if she were on a roller coaster. The moment she touched back onto the ground she asked, "Can I use a Get Out of Jail card to extend the time?"
