How "You May Now Kill the Bride" Should Have Ended
by LDEJRuff
"You!" Greg Tanner exclaimed to Russel Brooks. He had just discovered that Russel killed his fiancée, Susan Alston, with his cell phone. The police grabbed Greg before he could go any further. "You did this?"
Russel couldn't answer. Just breathed sadly.
"You killed Susan?"
"It wasn't supposed to go down like that," Russel replied.
"You shot her!" Greg shouted.
"The bullet was meant for Kelly," Russel admitted.
Greg shook his head in fear. "Why?"
Silence. "You told me to."
"No, I told you to talk to her."
"You told me to deal with it. She was blackmailing you, so I dealt with it."
"You... you son of a bitch!" Greg shouted, pulling a pistol from the holster of one of the police. "She was the only woman I ever loved! You don't deserve to live!" And with that, he pulled the trigger, shooting Russel three times.
"G...Greg."
With this final word, his voice breaking, Russel died before he hit the floor.
Greg's days of happiness had ended that exact moment. Not only did he lose his fiancée; he also just lost his best friend. As Greg dropped the pistol in shame, the police arrested him and took him away.
As the autopsy on Susan was about to end, with the wedding band being removed, Greg was escorted to the police car, where he would stand trial for the murder of Russel Brooks, thinking about the woman he tried to marry, and shed tears of grief.
The End
