PEARL HARBOR

I was asleep, like most of the crew. In my dream, I saw myself and two other soldiers. I couldn't identify them. The dream wasn't clear enough. Soon, the other soldier gets up, and gets shot. Then I get shot, followed by the third soldier. This happened in a forest. It seemed that I wasn't dead, yet. A man, most likely Japanese, comes up to me and says something. I don't respond to this. He aims the gun at me, and fires. Then I wake up from my nightmare.

"Mike, get up! The Japanese planes are above us! We have to escape before the ship gets destroyed!" John yells to me.

I got up from my bed, taking a weapon with me. I rush out, seeing far too many planes to count. Then I see John and Peter near a boat, waiting for me.

"Mike! Lower this boat to the water!" Peter says.

I rushed to the controls to lower the boat.

"Which one?" I think, looking at the buttons.

After ten seconds of thinking, I find the right one. I lower the boat to the water. I climb the stairs down to the boat. We had escaped the ship, but it wasn't over yet. I took control of the machine gun that was in the back of the boat. I started firing at the planes above.

"Head for that island, John!" Peter said, looking back at the planes.

Two planes were approaching our boat, viciously. Most of the bullets I fired missed the targets. The planes came closer, and closer. Suddenly, I aimed at the wings. The bullets hit them. I thought this was a reaction.

"Whew! That was too close!" I said, shaking my head.

"Yeah! Good thing you didn't aim at the boat!" John says, and laughs.

"Was that an insult?" I asked, laughing for a little while.

"Well...no, but you can take it as a yes."

We arrived at a beach of an island. John stopped the boat. After awhile, I started wandered around the island until it was midnight. I came back to our "camp". John and Peter were sleeping there, so I decided not to awake them.

"Who is it?" John gets up and yells at me, also waking up Peter.

"Michael," I reply.

"Mike, Mike, Mike...when will you learn to stop that?" John says.

Peter gets up, and sees a soldier patrol. In all of a sudden, he falls to the ground, with two bullets in his chest. Then I get shot, followed by John. A Japanese soldier comes up to me, like in my dream. He yells:

"Why did you come to our island... why?"

I did not respond. The soldier aimed the gun at me, and shot. The nightmare was true.
