I thought I'd write a little ficlet... And I was bored so... Enjoy!
Death is a difficult thing.
You can die in almost any way possible, and for different reasons. The list is limitless really. Cardiac arrest, broken bones, car wrecks… Suicide. Now suicide is the funny one; it could be from self-harm, a bullet through the brain or jumping.
He needed to find Peace.
Matt's clouded mind was fairly certain he would not survive the 12 metre drop from the top of the building.
The brunette shifted his feet a little and glanced below at the traffic speeding by, all the people who had actual jobs to get to and a life with loved ones. The thought of loved ones pulled a watery smile upon his pale face. He had never experienced having a family or losing someone related by blood.
But he did have Mello-well, used to.
Said blond had moved on to America, for what who knows, but Matt had a sneaking suspicion it was because of the sudden death of world class detective L. He knew Mello adored him, so leaving shortly after hearing news of it was not to be ruled out as a reason.
Matt stood on shaky legs and again looked downwards at the loud multi-coloured cars, drawing in a deep breath from his cigarette. He let it dangle between his lips as he fished out his phone and pushed a couple of buttons to get up a number. It was nothing fancy mind, just a slightly old Nokia that worked slowly. The brunette put it onto loud speaker and set it down onto the roof so he could still stand and smoke. It buzzed gently and after a few seconds a feminine voice sounded.
"Hello?"
He smiled a little and took a drag before saying, "Near. It's Matt."
The Special Provision for Kira leader's voice betrayed no emotion, although the gamer knew he was surprised, and without missing a beat replied with a quick "What is it you require?"
"I just wanted to know if you had Mello's mobile phone number."
Matt could almost hear the head shake and his already broken expression slipped completely. "My sincerest apologies, I do not have his contact number. May I enquire why you might need it?"
The brunette stepped heavily on his phone and kicked it off the building, doing the same for his burnt out cigarette. If Near did not have Mello's number, no one else would and he sure as hell was not explaining to the sheep the reason why he wanted it.
Breathing the crisp autumn air deeply, he stepped forwards to the edge of the building, taking in his surroundings. No distractions, nothing to stop him from doing this. He had to do this. Mello obviously did not care what he did with his life otherwise he wouldn't have left. Mello, the only boy capable of making Matt's heart skip. Sighing contently, the brunette held his breath.
Thump. Thump. Thump.
Confident his heart was beating loud enough in his ears, he rocked forwards on his boot clad feet and stuck his arms out, ready to be caught and carried by his blond angel.
Mello. The only person he would love. The only person he had fallen for physically.
Finally, Matt found his peace of mind.
