Breath

Oliver's breath was ragged as he tackled the head of the gang, Connor at his side in seconds. These filth were ruining lives of those who still hid amongst the rubble that once was the proud and strong Star City. Oliver had given up hope that anyone from Central, Gotham, or Metropolis were coming here, they all probably thought the city and its people were lost.

As he aimed his metal arm above the leader's head when a familiar rush of cool air whizzed in front of him, causing Connor and himself to stop in their tracks. There, standing in front of them, was Wally West and Barry Allen. No. Oliver mentally argued. Barry died twenty-two years ago. But it looked like Barry, his soft features, fidgeting feet, piercing green eyes. Wally looked just as shocked to Barry's appearance, his dark eyes wide in shock. He looked at Oliver and Connor, eyes widening more.

"Barry?" Oliver's voice was barely a whisper, gazing at his best friend in shock.

Emotion flashed in Barry's eyes. "Hey, Ollie." His smile was forced.

Connor spoke first. "I thought Barry Allen died in 2024." He commented, analyzing the two speedsters through glaring eyes.

"I did," Barry said plainly as he took a step towards the two vigilantes, who in turn took a step back. "I'm from 2017."

Wally growled. "So what? Are you trying to give us a heart attack?" His voice was layered in ice.

Barry chuckled sadly. "Nice to know hanging out with Grayson, Jason, and Damien had a good effect on your personality." He turned back to Oliver and Connor. "We're trying to save our timeline."

"And what do the Legends have to say about this?" Oliver inquired. Though by the way Barry looked away, he knew they had no idea.

"Please, Ol, we need to fix this." He said quietly. "We can save everyone." Barry took another step to Oliver, and Oliver did not step back, instead, putting his bow away. Connor reluctantly followed suit, still glaring at the two speedsters.

To finally see Barry smile after years of being haunted by his disappearance tore at Oliver's heartstrings. He knew Barry would never come back, but if they could change everything, maybe those events can be too. Barry held out his hand as a large portal opened up, and Oliver gripped it tightly with his real arm. For the first time in years, the light returned to the ancient archer's eyes as he, Barry, Wally, and a cautious Connor entered through the portal.
