AN: I wrote this last night because Muse has awesome music and I get lots of inspiration fro them XD. It's a one-shot, by the way :) Okay, some things you need to know:

-In my head, Caius and Athenodora's wedding was supposed to be right after the harvest moon (don't ask me why, I honestly don't know XD)

- Somewhat like in the twilight series, Caius promised to change Athenodora after they were married. In my head, she was supposed to be food, but they spared her.

Umm, I think that's all for now :) ENJOY!

I sat in my chair by the window, looking out onto the vast city of Volterra. It was beautiful this time of year; the coppers and reds of the buildings were in perfect accordance with the surrounding landscape. I had to admit, out of all the seasons, autumn was by far my favorite. Not because of the colors, but just the feeling it gives me. It's a pleasant feeling; an essence of calm and peace.

Unfortunately, all was not calm and peaceful.

I sighed, and let my head fall in my hands. Why did this have to happen now? Athenodora and I were to be wed in exactly 2 weeks and Aro sends me on this kind of mission! If it's so important to him, why doesn't he just go? Doesn't he care…? I have enough on my mind right now, without adding werewolves into the equation! I lifted my head slightly and checked my watch; it was 5:40 AM. I raised my head fully now looked out the window; the sun was just rising on the horizon, and it was stunning. I just sat there for a few moments, gazing at its brilliance. I sighed as I, all too soon, gracefully stood from my chair. Aro wanted me gone and off to find the werewolves no later than 6:00 AM. I glided out of the room, down the ancient staircase, and into the throne room. The first person I saw there was Aro, sitting on his throne with that cheeky and slightly eerie smile spread across his face. Felix was on his right, on the far wall, and Demitri was standing right next to the hallway entrance where I had come from.

"Ah, Caius! How wonderful to see you this fine morning!" Aro said as he walked towards me with his hands clasped together and that odd grin still on his face. I frowned slightly in return; I was upset that he was sending me, and he knew it.

"Well, I guess there's no need to be doddling. Felix, Demitri? Would you care to escort dear Caius to the city limits?" The two of them were at my sides in an instance, and I began walking towards the door, with them following behind.

Until I heard footsteps, and a human heartbeat. I whipped my head towards the sound. Aro's face slightly fell, but he did the same. Before I even saw, I knew who it was.

Athenodora.

"Caius!" She screamed desperately and out of breath. She turned the final corner and came racing towards me. Before I could even extend my arms to her, Felix had already left my side and had her arms pinned behind her back. Her eyes and mine widened in unison as this happened. She struggled for a moment, but was no match for his brute strength. She looked up at me with tearing eyes, and then turned to Aro.

"Please! Just let him stay! Someone else can go!" She cried pleadingly. "He could get injured! He could d-die!" By now, she was shaking with sobs. She hung her head as if in defeat. I glided over to her, and tucked a small strand of loose hair behind her ear. She looked up at me then, her eyes still streaming.

"Please don't cry, darling. I'll be back before you know it." I whispered softly to her.

"B-but what if you-"

"Don't worry about me." With that, I kissed her forehead and drifted towards the exit. I heard her whisper, just before I was through the door,

"Goodbye…" If I could have cried, I would have been weeping.
