The episode Lineage was sadly lacking in one area that I had been dying to see how does Tom find out. While I had always envisioned somewhat more dramatic and emotional circumstances, this idea fit with in the parameters of the episode.

"I believe Lt. Torres is pregnant." Seven of Nine said.

That was when B'lana knew she was going to be sick. Engineering, which hadn't really been standing still up to that point, began to whirl around her. Then it was just really dark.

"Lt. Parris please report to Sickbay." Parris rolled his eyes and shook his head. He really didn't want the extra duty today. Sickbay was a lot like a tar pit, really difficult to get out of and suffocating to all those trapped in it. Parris sighed as he pushed back from the con and exited to the turbolift. He tried to focus on the memory of B'lana's whimsical mood last night and cheerful demeanor this morning. He couldn't wait until both of their shifts were over to get back to where they had been. HE was smiling when he walked into sickbay.

What he saw made him stop. B'lana was lying on a Biobed, her skin pale and waxy. The Doctor was leaned over her, scanning her body slowly, his face wrinkled in concentration.

"What happened?" Tom asked as he gently touched his wife's cheek; her skin was cool and moist.

"Lt. Torres had a fainting spell of sorts. Give her a few seconds and her color will come back. Really, she's all right."

B'lana groaned and reached up to rub her head. "OOOOOooooo, that was a killer. I had the strangest dream. Like a holonovel, in slow motion." She looked up, "Tom, what are you doing here?"

The Doctor smiled paternally, "Under the circumstances, I thought I should call him. Would you like me to give you a minute?"

B'lana nodded, "Stay close, there may be another fainting spell."

"But, you are fine now. I have everything balanced out again."

"I'm not talking about me."

"B'lana what is going on?" Tom asked as the Doctor went to his office chuckling.

"Tom, did you know that my conception was a 1 in 1000 chance. Klingon and Human DNA is not very compatible."

"B'lana I've always told you that I thought you were at least 1 in a million to me. Now what is the matter?"

"What if I told you that once again, you and your gamblers luck have beaten the odds?"

"What are you talking abou…. Ohhhhhhhhhh. You mean you're… we're… Ohhhhhhhh."

Tom sat down hard on the neighboring Biobed. "I think I'd better sit down." Then he jumped back up. The doctor had come out of his office, hyposrpay in hand in case Tom passed out. Tom grabbed his arm and looked at his wife.

"She's okay, right. You said she fainted, is everything all right?"

The Doctor scanned B'lana again….
