Summary: In the leafy setting of an autumn night in Feudal Japan, a Kitsune by the false name of 'Gin' watches a young man by the light of a lone lamp, instinctively spellbound by this man the beast will stop at nothing to get close him. AU, R (or possible NC-17, depends how dirty minded I feel later on).
Disclaimer: I do not own Gin or Izuru… Kubo-Sensei does.
Note: I have used a lot of references to Kitsune lore and magic, also the spiritual world of Kami. I would love to explain, but I just can't see myself writing a long essay about it. 済みません。I'm a lazy arse, forgive me.
-- Prologue
He had stalked the estate for days, maybe even weeks. His eyes set on the same lattice window at the rear of the house. The grounds, blanketed with the soft glow of the moon, were peaceful but the sound of the gentle strokes of a brush on scroll. Gin curiously skulked around the empty fish pond and dashed through the reeds, stopping under the window that the moon shone so generously on.
Lifting himself onto his hind legs, he rested his front paws on the wooden ledge, where sat a saucer of rice and red bean paste. Licking his lips he stuck his muzzle into the dish, making his whiskers sticky. The sweet smell filled his nostrils. It was obvious the offering had been made for him, which meant he was aware of his presence. In one attack he gorged himself violently, dropping the saucer, causing it to smash when it hit the ground. Messily he wolfed down the last grains of rice.
Momentarily distracted by the treat, he turned his attention back to the flickering flame of a lamp that sat beyond the lattice. It had almost burned out but still a lone figure knelt before a large piece of scroll, brush in hand.
So enthralled was he with the man that sat by the light of the flame that he did not notice the presence of the shadow creeping up behind him until he was struck on the back. He turned all of a sudden to see an aged man, who stood prepared to strike again. Wooden training sword readily in his hands and hanging from his sash a pouch of small stones, perfect for temporarily deterring 'evil' spirits.
'I have no idea what you are up to, but there will be no misdemeanour played on this household! Now scram, before I have the mind to beat you again!' By the way the man spoke; Gin figured that he was the house keeper. This man, the housekeeper seemed to hold a deep bitterness against him, was it because of the vast amount of time the kitsune had taken up residence in the small estate? Was he afraid that he was here for more malicious reasons than just to watch the young man through the window?
Not wanting to waste his time with a confrontation and in pain from the attack, Gin disappeared into the night sky. The powers he held within this form were convenient, but he would have to give almost all of them up if he were to transform.
