Clark always associated Lana Lang with the moon. He figures it is probably because he always saw her through the end of his telescope at the end of the day. For years he would peak across the field and watch her live framed by the setting sun and the rising evening star. He would go to bed with this image in his mind, and when he saw her moonlit smile in the broad afternoon light he would fall into a daze and dream.

He grew up under Lana's moonbeam gaze. But, one night, he met Lois Lane in a bright flash of light and suddenly the world was just a little bit bigger, a little louder, and Lana's smile grew just a little bit dimmer.

Months after Lana left for the last time, Clark stands in his loft, watching the sun rise over the farm. He thinks of Lois in Corben's lair and a thought crosses his mind – Even while overcast she glows.

He feels as if he has seen the sun for the first time.
