"You love him, right?" Roy leaned back, placing his long legs on the table as he stared intently at the red-head sitting across from him. "So why are you going out with Megan? Is it out of pity?"
Wally was quiet, but only for a second before he nearly growled at Roy, "What do you care? I thought you love him too." He spat out the word like a curse.
"That's exactly why," Roy was much more composed then Wally, but the anger that edged his voice was dangerously low. "I love Robin."
"His name is Dick," Wally corrected him, "Dick Grayson."
"I like Robin better- would you rather I say that 'I love dick'?" Roy stated simply. Wally snickered in amusement, causing Roy to reach over and slap the back of his head, "Are you, like, growing younger and more immature everyday or something?"
"..."
Wally's laughter suddenly came to a stop and he wore a sour expression, as if he had eaten a worm. Roy shared the same expression when they both realized what he had said.
"Sorry." Roy sat back again. "I guess I should've chosen better wording."
"No, it's fine, it's not your fault I-" the freckled teen lifted his hands up to do 'air-quotes', mockingly, "'probably won't live until I'm 20'."
Another sullen silence filled the room. Wally twiddled his thumbs while Roy gave him a scrutinizing stare.
"My father had tachycardia too." Roy stated absent-mindedly, but it managed to break the silence. "You guys were alike, but hopefully you will live longer than he did."
Wally, looked down, "Are... you and Rob the same?"
"If he stays in love with you, he will be as broken as I was when my old man died..." Rob froze before adding, "... that is, if you die."
Wally didn't have the guts to remark confidently that he won't. It was a mystery, sometimes he'll be fine, other times he'll feel immense guilt over the possibility that he was going to die before even hitting legal drinking age.
"Tell me everything." Roy broke the silence again.
"... About...?"
"You, Robin, Megan- maybe even me. How you ended up at a boarding school when you should be spending time with your parents, and even how you came to love Robin." Roy looked comfortable, as if he was getting ready to watch a TV show. "Everything."
"It will take a long time."
"I have all the time in the world right now."
"... It all started when I was eight."
