If I Stay - Monologue

This is a monologue I had to write for my English assessment. I had to choose a character of my choice, so I chose Mia. It's just short as I had to leave half way through the assessment, but here it is. I wasn't sure if I should post this, but I worked up the courage to, so please read and review! I like constructive criticism.

I wrote this for my English assessment and it's just a short monologue from Mia's POV. I had to leave halfway through the assessment so it's quite short.

It makes more sense if you have read the book.

If I stay

In a foggy haze I lie

Still and unsure

About to die.

Although, I can walk and see

All of those who are dear to me,

My cello plays on and on

My heart the sound of his beating drum,

Now I have one decision left,
to stop that drum, in my chest.
Or stay with him, though there's nothing here.

Both decisions will end in tears.

He parades in with his heart of gold
Telling me we could grow old -
together, if I stay.

But now I want to slip away.
Beloved brother, dad and mum, gone

I'm the last one.

And soon enough my time has come.
Out of my body, I can see.

A broken young man

Just staring at me.

His single promise to stay away

Pulls me back, to share more days.
